What this Job Entails: 

We are searching for an innovative Staff Engineer lead to join our client’s IT Customer Experience Team. As a Staff Engineer, you will engage with multiple engineering teams (application / infosec / SRE), but focus on licensing for physical and cloud based products. This will require you to engage heavily with various product functions (Engineering, UX, QA) as well as IT teams such as infrastructure. This is a fast paced environment and requires a wide array of skills. To be successful in this role, you should have a strong desire to find the balance between stability, features and time to market. Drive all decisions with data and be able to articulate outcomes at multiple levels in the organization (from execs to associate engineers).
 
Your Roles and Responsibilities:

  • Determining project requirements and developing work schedules for the team
  • Drive alignment across development teams in a data oriented and transparent way
  • Balance security debt, product stability and features against a backdrop of go to market pressure
  • Provide administration, development, and application support for end users 
  • Design, develop, code, test and debug system software
  • Design and implement software of embedded devices and systems from requirements to deployment
  • Perform root cause analysis of network, operating system, and other issues related to how technical solutions operate in customer environments
  • Address and resolve escalated software bugs and bug reproduction requests; logging of all incidents and requests; engaging other service desk resources or appropriate service resources to resolve incidents that are beyond the scope of their ability or responsibility
  • Work with stakeholders and cross-functional teams on projects and initiatives

Required Qualifications/Skills:

  • Minimum of 8 years industry experience with at least 2 years experience in DevOps automation and tooling, including cloud SRE roles and/or training in information/cyber security, computer systems, or IT
  • Bachelor’s degree (B.S/B.A) from four-college or university or equivalent combination of education and experience 
  • Strong knowledge with Cloud technologies (Google Cloud preferred or AWS)
  • Software background with with Scripting and Automation experience (Terraform, Kubernetes, Python).
  • Experienced in Next Gen Security - App Layer Firewall (Palo Alto Networks preferred).
  • Full stack system architecture (API / Web / DB / Distributed Systems)
  • Client side: Javascript (Angular / React)
  • Back end: Java (Spring Boot, Sprint Security), C# - Web API’s
  • Data Base: One of the following (MySQL / MSSQL / PostgreSQL / MSSQL / RDS)
  • NoSQL - At least one of the following (Mongo DB / FireStore / Redshift)
  • Platforms: At least one of the following GCP (preferred) / AWS / Azure
  • Strong knowledge of the following: Docker, Kubernetes, Helm
  • Excellent communication skills (both speaking and writing)
  • Attention to detail

  • Cloud/Devops requirements:
  • Mid-level GCP, AWS & Azure
  • Firewall/Networking requirements:
  • NGFW mid-level
  • Any vendors
  • strong network design & operation background
  • BGP/OSPF
  • Programming/Scripting requirements:
  • Automation: python, terraform
  • Software engineering mid-level, API
  •  Cloud integration
  • Back-end API integration/engineering
 
Physical Demand & Work Environment:

  • Must have the ability to perform office-related tasks which may include prolonged sitting or standing
  • Must have the ability to move from place to place within an office environment
  • Must be able to use a computer
  • Must have the ability to communicate effectively 
  • Some positions may require occasional repetitive motion or movements of the wrists, hands, and/or fingers
