Fall 2022 In-Person Intern, CNN NY Newsroom

The Job
Our intern will be exposed to the fast-paced environment of our newsroom, and the many stories we chase, write and cover for all CNN platforms. It's the perfect environment to expose interns to what we do as journalists. They will see how and why we decide to cover stories, make editorial calls, write draft alerts and cover press conferences, among many other tasks.


The Daily
The CNN New York Newsroom intern will assist with day-of coverage of news, breaking news and developing stories as we work to confirm stories throughout the day.
  • The intern will be required to make phone calls to officials to confirm information, use social media to track down information, video and individuals and creative thinking to determine how best to uncover information for our stories.
  • The intern will listen to press conferences and contribute to digital writes for CNN.com and may be asked to help with coverage of the United Nations, which the NY Bureau handles daily.

The Essentials
  • We are looking for curious, aggressive and highly communicative applicants to join us in the newsroom.
  • We would prefer applicants who have previous journalism experience.

Internship Program
  • Students must be currently enrolled in a college degree program for the full duration of the internship
  • Fall 2022 program dates are October 3rd – December 9th; must be available for full program duration
  • Part-time schedule (16-24 hours/week) required
  • Company-issued computer or secured remote access provided for the duration of the internship program.
