Union Organizing Intern

The Opportunity: The Union Organizing Externship will provide individuals with opportunities for meaningful hands-on experiences working on projects and being part of a team while contributing to the larger goals of the United Teachers of Dade. You will help build local grassroots teams that will then engage in direct voter contact, volunteer recruitment, and volunteer retention to support the renewal of Miami-Dade's Teacher Compensation and School Safety Referendum. This includes learning the political process and preparing for future political opportunities whether you choose a union career or volunteer path. Lastly, it’s also a great way to grow connections and memories.

Job Responsibilities:
o  Participate in volunteer outreach by calling potential UTD volunteers.
o  Help ensure voters are equipped with the correct tools to register to vote.
o  Assist the UTD Organizing Department in community advocacy and voter contact.
o  Work with your team-members to help launch successful events, such as door-to-door canvassing.
o  Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications (Required):

o  Strong Work Ethic and Problem-Solving Abilities.
o  Project Management – Demonstrated ability to manage multiple projects and priorities; attention to detail.
o  Communication Skills – Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
o  Availability – 10 hours of availability each week (minimum).

Qualifications (Preferred)
o  Intermediate experience with Microsoft Teams, NGP VAN, and Microsoft Suite.
o  Ability to travel throughout Miami-Dade County, Florida (travel expenses covered).

Note: Beginning and end dates are flexible. Students are encouraged to apply for academic credit with their university.
