Web Quality Assurance Lead

Wolfram, creator of Mathematica, Wolfram|Alpha and the Wolfram Language, is seeking a highly motivated and skilled Web Quality Assurance Lead to be part of its Quality Assurance department. This position will entail collaborating with multiple teams to produce projects of varying sizes and levels of complexity. An ideal candidate would have a startup mindset and would have ability to be flexible, wear many hats, work in a fast-paced environment, create and execute solutions quickly and build things from the ground up under minimal supervision.

Responsibilities

  • Leading and growing the globally distributed Web & Mobile Quality Assurance team, comprised of Test Engineers and Software Developers in Test
  • Overseeing testing and approving releases of web and mobile products and services
  • Strategically driving multiple competing priorities under time constraints and delivering results
  • Reporting testing results and managing and triaging a high volume of bugs by communicating effectively with engineering managers and product managers
  • Identifying, defining and leading the implementation of technical solutions to testing and testing automation challenges
  • Empowering internal users to partake and succeed in the dogfooding of products to gain insights on the product usage and scale testing coverage
  • Partnering closely with engineering, design, BA, UX, project management, Ops and customer-facing groups
  • Performing manual testing of new features to verify functionality and conformity to design and to ensure effective utility to end users
  • Studying and critically analyzing design/functionality specifications to identify issues, suggest improvements and report bugs
  • Discovering and reporting regressions through regular execution of test automation suite and through testing
  • Collaborating with product managers to regularly evaluate and improve the existing project management processes to boost the product makers' productivity and work efficiency
  • Researching and developing an understanding of modern testing trends, frameworks and methodologies to improve the existing processes, scale testing cadence and expand the testing coverage

Skills required

  • Bachelor's degree in computer science, engineering, math, physics or a related technical or quantitative field
  • 2+ years of people management and cross-functional technical project management
  • Understanding of software engineering practices and the full software development life cycle
  • Genuine interest and dedication to deliver high-quality products and a passion to build a high-performance team
  • Experience in testing web and mobile products and services
  • Working knowledge of Java, HTML, CSS and JavaScript
  • Experience with source control systems such as Git
  • Experience using project tracking tools such as Jira
  • Experience in test automation tools like Selenium and performance/load testing tools
  • Experience in recruiting, hiring, onboarding, training, mentoring and retaining engineers
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills with demonstrated experience engaging and influencing senior leadership
