Maintenance Engineer (Broadcast)

Fox 5 WTTG and Fox 5 Plus WDCA, the #1 local television news operation in the Washington, DC metro area is seeking a Broadcast Maintenance Technician (Full-time) to support the operation of our new ST 2110 IP facility.
  • Solve problems found in complex systems
  • Support an ST 2110 media network running on Arista network switches
  • Work with Lawo VSM, SMART and other tools
  • Maintain cameras, production switchers, non-linear editing systems, cloud-based systems, intercom, production audio consoles etc.
  • Repair electronic news gathering equipment
  • Other duties as assigned
  • Hands-on experience working in a broadcast or television facility
  • Experience with production video and broadcast operations
  • Experience with IP routing & workflows (ST-2110/2022-7, etc.)
  • General understanding of the SMPTE 2110 suite of standards
  • Ability to troubleshoot computer and network-based systems
  • Ability to read technical drawings and follow signal flows
  • Strong analytical, reasoning, and technical troubleshooting skills
  • Ability to take direction and work under deadline pressure
  • Must be organized, creative, and detail-oriented
  • Strong sense of urgency
  • Willingness to assist users with technical issues or concerns
  • Bachelor's degree, preferred focus in electrical engineering or computer science or related field
  • Arista or Cisco certification, Arista CloudVision
  • Experience maintaining a television transmitter
  • Specific expertise with Chyron graphics, Sony production switchers, Lawo control systems, VxRail or other VM servers and storage systems
  • Knowledge of Microsoft tools, including MS Visio
  • Autocad experience
  • Experience with SNMP servers
Candidates must be able to work flexible hours – early mornings, late nights, weekends and holidays may be required. Must be able to lift and carry forty-five (45) pounds, up and down stairs, and rough terrain, to complete essential job functions. Must have a clean motor vehicle record (MVR) and be willing to obtain a valid driver’s license. Local travel, OT, weekends and holidays will be required.
