Academy Student Nurse Internship - Fall 2022

Summary
*This posting is intended for Nursing Students who wish to participate in the Student Nurse Academy internship program*

Placements include: Deaconess Midtown Hospital, Deaconess Gateway Hospital, Deaconess Cross Pointe, Deaconess Henderson Hospital, and Deaconess Union County Hospital. 

Summary of the Role
The Student Nurse Academy training program requires the direct supervision of the RN preceptor working with the Academy Student Nurse. The intent of this Student Nurse Academy Program is to create a learning environment for the Academy Student Nurse to experience an introduction to highly complex patient care within a nursing care delivery system, promoting role development of the Academy Student Nurse.

The Academy Student Nurse is responsible for completing tasks under the direct supervision of the RN for the delivery of task-based nursing care by meeting the comfort, hygiene and safety needs of patients in accordance with hospital and departmental policies and procedures. Demonstration of growth and development of knowledge and skills to provide care to all patients is required.

Academy Student Nurses must be able to successfully complete job specific orientation, competencies, and meet/exceed evaluation standards as defined.

Job Requirements & Qualifications 
Hours for the Fall session are 4 to 16 hours per two-week pay period (dependent on your assigned level in the program). Opportunities for additional hours are available in a patient care role. 

Upon hire, candidates for the Student Nurse Academy Program must provide confirmation of the following:
- Good standing and current enrollment in an accredited (ACEN, CCNE, or AACN) RN school of nursing
- Must have completed at least one semester of nursing clinicals in accredited nursing program
- GPA of 3.0 preferred, but not required
- This program is a hands-on, paid opportunity for students to begin building relationships with our nursing staff and leadership!
