NBC Sports Group Internships – Fall 2022

Responsibilities
Fall 2022 Internship Program:

  • Program Dates: September 19 – December 9, 2022 

  • Time Commitment: 16-24 hours per week. Exact schedule to be determined based on business need. We will do our best to accommodate course schedules.

NBC Sports Group

The sports media company presents premier content across linear platforms NBC, USA Network, Golf Channel, and Olympic Channel: Home of Team USA, as well numerous digital sites, including Peacock. It also consists of NBC Sports Next, a subdivision of NBC Sports and home to all NBCUniversal digital applications in sports and technology within its three groups: Youth & Recreational Sports, Golf, and Betting & Gaming. NBC Sports possesses an unparalleled collection of media rights agreements, partnering with some of the most prestigious sports properties in the world: the International Olympic Committee and United States Olympic and Paralympic Committee, the NFL, NASCAR, INDYCAR, PGA TOUR, Notre Dame, The R&A, PGA of America, USGA, Churchill Downs, Premier League, Tour de France, Roland-Garros, and many more. 
Areas of placement may include, but are not limited to: 
Virtual Opportunities:  
Animation & Graphic Design: 
  • Sports Creative – This intern will work to implement graphic and animated elements for The NBC Sports Group including Network graphics, show packages, event insert graphics and titles. 
GolfNow: 
  • GolfNow Customer Support – This team provides consumer facing support to multiple businesses under the NBCUniversal umbrella. This includes NBC Sports Golf/NBC Sports App, Golf Reservation Center, GolfNow/TeeOff, and PeacockTV streaming. 

  • GolfNow Plus – The Plus Team interacts with almost every division across NBC Sports Digital. Intern responsibilities include auditing and providing ongoing feedback for our current product offerings, as well as working with the following disciplines: support, activation, website design/development, brand agency, revenue consultation, and project management. 
Fantasy, Betting & Gaming: 
  • Edge, Product & Gaming – This intern will support the gaming product team, which is responsible for the management of the NBCSportsEDGE.com products as well as the NBC Sports Predictor app. The group is the subject matter expert in the newest frontier of sports media: sports gambling and gamification of sports. 
Marketing: 
  • Consumer Engagement – This intern will be situated within the NBC Sports Gaming team helping to manage various marketing calendar Smartsheets, updating metrics for email & PointsBet, as well as assisting with a variety of long-term projects for NFL,Golf, Olympics & more. 

  • Sports Strategic Marketing – This intern will work with several internal teams, including Programming, Production, Sales, Digital, Social, Email to build a strong cross-platform marketing campaign. 
  • Marketing Strategy – The NBC Sports Marketing Strategy team synthesizes viewership data, industry insights, and emerging trends in fandom and consumer behavior to develop comprehensive marketing and brand strategies supporting NBCUniversal’s portfolio of sports properties.
News Desk: 
  • NBCSports.com News Desk – The intern will play an important role on our team primarily publishing video across various platforms (NBCSports.com, YouTube, NBC Sports app, GolfChannel.com, Peacock, etc.) and updating NBCSports.com with fresh video/written content regularly. Our team is responsible for coordinating with the video team, blog writers, and social team for ensuring all video/written content is delivered in a timely and accurate manner, with a focus on SEO and engaging titles. 
Olympics: 
  • Olympic Operations – Under the direction of the SVP, Olympic Operations, the Olympic Operations team is comprised of subgroups of Features Production Management, Games Event Management, and Production Operations. This group is exposed to all facets of organizing and executing NBC’s broadcast of the Olympic Games, in the Host City as well as Stamford. 
 
In-Person Opportunities: must be available to work from Stamford, CT to be considered for the below opportunities 
Digital: 
  • NBC Sports Digital – NBC Sports Group is seeking a student intern to join its team in the Digital Video Production department located in Stamford, Connecticut. As a team player, you will join an immensely collaborative environment with the opportunity to work on high quality sports television projects. The ideal candidate thrives on developing new skills and has an interest or experience in working in sports television production. 
Marketing: 
  • Social Media Strategic Marketing – Social media interns will get the unique opportunity to observe and participate in how our company engages and interacts with audiences of all ages. They will play a key role in the planning execution of social campaigns across a number of sports, brands and key company priorities. 
Olympics: 
  • Digital Video Production – This intern will help produce video content for Olympic sports, both during the Games and between them, and publish that content to NBC’s digital platforms.  

  • Olympic Production – The Olympic Production group produces live Olympic sports during non-Games time, such as World Championships and National Championships, and works toward long-term production goals in the lead-up to each Olympics. 
GolfNow: 
  • NBC Sports Programming – The GOLF Programming Intern provides support to all divisions within the programming department. Responsibilities range from information gathering and organization to data entry to show screening. The GOLF Programming Intern assists in the following areas: program information, program scheduling, program operations and international relations. 

  • NBC Sports Group Production – this intern will join an immensely collaborative environment with the opportunity to work on high quality sports television projects. The ideal candidate thrives on developing new skills and has an interest or experience in working in Golf sports television production. 
Operations: 
  • Technical Logistics – This intern will interact with internal customers at our facilities support window facilitating their support needs with a high level of service and support. This includes production support requests, shipping, shipment tracking, supply distribution, asset management support and other facility support needs. 
Qualifications/Requirements
Basic Qualifications

• Must be actively enrolled in a degree-granting program at an accredited institution during the length of the program.

• Current class standing of sophomore or above (30 credits).

• Must be authorized to work in the United States without visa sponsorship by NBCUniversal.

• If selected for a virtual internship, must be working from a location within the United States during all hours worked.

• If selected for an in-person internship, must be willing to
work in the designated city and state as mentioned in the job responsibilities section.

Additional Job Requirements

• Must submit an attestation disclosing your COVID-19 vaccination status and, if partially or fully vaccinated, submitting your vaccination record no later than 7 days following commencement of employment.

• Must be fully vaccinated against COVID-19 at the commencement of employment or must undergo regular COVID-19 testing if Company determines your job position requires accessing an NBCUniversal worksite.

• Must be willing to adhere to all Company COVID-19 workplace safety policies and protocols.
Desired Characteristics
• Students with class standing of junior or above preferred.

•Cumulative GPA of 3.0 or above.

• For Consumer Engagement: must have a working knowledge of HTML, Adobe Photoshop, Salesforce Marketing Cloud and Excel.

• For Digital Video Production: Experience editing with AVID or Adobe Premier video editing systems. Knowledge of and passion for Olympic sports. Basic knowledge of digital video production and web publishing workflows

• For Edge, Product & Gaming: Proficiency in project management tools (e.g. JIRA) is preferred

• For NBCSports.com News Desk - Strong understanding of AP Style and solid writing skills a must. Familiarity with Content Management Systems a plus. Experience with Drupal, Wordpress, MPX, YouTube, Adobe Photoshop, and Urban Airship a plus

• For Sports Creative: Knowledge of Adobe PS & AI, After Effects and Cinema 4D, including modelling texturing and animating.

• For Strategic Marketing: must be willing to work on weekends (within hours) if needed

• For Marketing Strategy: Academic Background in Marketing, Consumer Psychology, Data & Analytics, Research, Consumer Insights, or other relevant Business track with Keynote experience is preferred.
