Civil Engineering Intern (Water Resources)

We are currently seeking two Water Resources Engineering Interns to join the RS&H Transportation-Infrastructure Practice in Jacksonville, Florida.
 
The Water Resources Engineering Interns will be mentored by and will collaborate with engineering design associates within the Transportation-Infrastructure Practice. This position will be engaged in a large variety of transportation-focused projects, from large and complex expressway/interstate roadway facilities to smaller, safety-focused pedestrian improvements. Come work with us and have a major impact on the communities that we serve!
This is an amazing opportunity to gain hands-on experience and a better understanding of the Transportation and Water Resources engineering fields.
 
Responsibilities:
 
  • Assist with the design of stormwater management facilities, control structures, roadway collection/conveyance systems, and other drainage-related infrastructure
  • Perform hydrologic and hydraulic analysis and design for transportation and infrastructure projects
  • Assist with the preparation of design and permitting documents, including design documentation, calculations, construction plans, and permit applications
  • Perform field reviews and photo documentation of existing conditions to identify potential flooding concerns
 
Qualifications:
  • Current student pursuing a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Civil Engineering at an ABET-accredited university
  • 3.0 GPA or above
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Powerpoint)
  • Ability to work on multiple assignments simultaneously
  • Works well in a team environment
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Prior internship or related experience
  • AutoCAD and/or Microstation experience
  • Hydrologic/hydraulic modeling experience
  • Experience with or exposure to FDOT plans preparation and design standards
  • Specific interest in Water Resources engineering
