Global Tax Intern
Carnival Corporation is offering a wonderful paid job shadowing role for a potential full-time opportunity. This position is flexible to work remote (10-20 hours a week) depending on student and business availability.
The Global Tax Intern is responsible for supporting other members of the tax department on a variety of tax matters, including but not limited to the compliance process with respect to U.S. federal and state income/non-income tax returns and informational returns. The Tax Intern will also be involved in the department’s quarterly and annual Provision, Plan and Forecast process.
Essential Functions:
- Support the Senior Tax Analysts in the calculations of estimated tax, including analyzing book-to-tax adjustments
- Support the Senior Tax Analysts in the preparation and filing of federal, state, and local tax extensions
- Support the Tax Manager in the preparation of yearly informational filings, such as foreign bank account reporting, Form 5471, and others
- Coordinate with other departments within Carnival (for example, Accounting) to obtain information need to support the department’s tax calculations
- Perform tax research and document findings, including tax workpaper support
- Participate in tax planning meetings with other department team members, such as the Sr. Manager and Sr. Director, Global Tax
- Assist the Tax Manager in responding to tax notices from the IRS and state tax authorities
- Assist the Senior Tax Analyst in the quarterly and annual tax provision process.
Qualifications
- High school Diploma or GED
- Working towards a Bachelor's Degree or Masters Degree is a must
- Excellent computer skills including Microsoft Excel and other Microsoft Office applications
- Demonstrated good oral and written communication skills
- Exceptional attention to detail and organization
