Annual Salary: $60,000.20
Paid Bi-Weekly

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
- Licensure as a Registered Professional Nurse
- A Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university with a major in nursing or a related field AND two years of nursing experience. A Master's degree from an accredited college or university in nursing, nursing education, public health, or a related field may substitute for one year of the nursing experience. (Professional nursing experience may be substituted on a year-for-year basis for the required college education.)
- Current CPR certification.
- Must have excellent computer skills.
- Must be deemed eligible to work as the result of a Level II Background Screening to include, but not limited to, fingerprinting and drug test.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
- Experience in a long-term health care environment (skilled nursing facility; nursing home; assisted living facility).
- Experience in staff education / staff development.
- Supervisory experience.
POSITION DESCRIPTION:
The selected candidate will be responsible for emphasizing the prevention and management of infections. The Nursing Program Specialist/Infection Preventionist will establish goals and priorities for the Infection Control Prevention and Control Program and plan and implement strategies to achieve those goals, monitoring the implementation of the program (including the disciplinary team’s infection control practices), and responding to errors, problems, or other identified issues.
In the absence of the DON, the incumbent is responsible for the nursing operations of the facility.
Additional activities involved in the Infection Control Prevention and Program development and oversight include, but are not limited to:
Monitor facility infection control program, including employee health, as well as execution of all recordkeeping requirements. Implementing appropriate infection control Policies and procedures and training staff on them. Identifying the staff’s roles and responsibilities for the routine implementation of the program as well as in case of an outbreak of a communicable disease, an episode of infection, or the threat of s bio-hazard attack. Monitoring and documenting infections, including tracking and analyzing outbreaks of infection as well as implementing and documenting actions to resolve related problems. Incorporate an antibiotic stewardship program into the infection control program.
Defining and managing appropriate resident health initiatives, such as:
The immunization program (influenza, pneumonia, etc.); Tuberculosis screening on admission and following the discovery of a new case, and managing active cases consistent with State requirements; Nursing facility liaison to work with local and State health agencies. Managing food safety, including employee health and hygiene, pest control, investigating potential food-borne illnesses, and waste disposal.
Assist Nursing department with care and perform other duties as assigned under direction of the Executive Nursing Director and function as the Assistant Director of Nursing.
Perform other duties as assigned.
