Staff Accountant - Intercompany Analyst

SUMMARY:
The position of Staff Accountant- Intercompany Analyst, Rakuten USA offers an opportunity to work in a fast-paced and dynamic work environment with some of the brightest entrepreneurs. The successful candidate must possess well-rounded accounting knowledge and experience, along with strong inter-personal skills. The candidate’s primary responsibilities will be to perform general ledger accounting responsibilities as they relate to intercompany transactions, the month end accounting close, and adhering to internal controls. This individual will also be involved in several ad-hoc accounting and reporting projects.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Support the closing process of multiple legal entities and/or divisions
  • Send and receive invoices to related parties
  • Own and organize all documentation to support intercompany relationships
  • Assist in the design and implementation of process improvements and best practices
  • Prepare monthly journal entries, and maintain account reconciliations associated with related party activity
  • Assist in the preparation of corporate accounting and reporting deliverables as well as various management reports
  • Partner with FP&A teams to perform close activities and provide business insight to management
  • Support quarterly submissions and annual internal audits with a focus on J-SOX
  • Maintain internal control procedures and ensure compliance with SOX requirements
  • Assist with Ad-hoc assignments and special projects

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:

  • Results oriented, flexible, resourceful and self-motivated with the ability to manage multiple deliverables to quick schedules
  • Must be detail focused and experienced in follow-through and completion of projects
  • Strong analytical skills and initiative
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Strong time-management skills and ability to adhere to quick month-end close timelines
  • Ability to work independently
  • Proficiency in Excel, Asana and other general ledger applications (Quickbooks, Oracle, SAP, etc.) 
QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS:

  • 1-2 years’ experience in accounting preferred
  • Bachelor's Degree in Accounting or related field preferred
