INSCOM-NGIC-VCF-0066. intelligence Assistant. GG-04.
The NGIC Student Intern (StudINT) Program is an internal program that offers full-time, 14-week internship for current second and third year college students. The program is intended to provide an opportunity for students to intern at the NGIC in order to build upon their experience. Permanent employment following the completion of the internship is not guaranteed. 

Serves as an Intelligence Assistant in a formal and on-the-job training designed to familiarize the incumbent with specific intelligence functions, operations, and responsibilities. The incumbent performs progressively responsible assignments requiring the application of specific knowledge and professional and/or management theories, principles, and practices. Assists higher-graded employees/action officers by performing less-complicated portions of projects in the intelligence areas of collection, production, analysis, and dissemination. Assignments are primarily for training purposes, and in some cases, are performed to relieve higher-graded employees/ action officers of the more routine aspects of the work.

About the Position: This position is in the Defense Civilian Intelligence Personnel System (DCIPS). Employees occupying DCIPS positions are in the Excepted Service and must adhere to U.S. Code, Title 10, as well as Department of Defense Instruction 1400.25. This position is located at the U.S. Army National Ground Intelligence Center, Student Intern (StudINT) Program in Charlottesville, VA.

This is a Career Program Position (CP) 35: Intelligence

Assignments are primarily for training purposes, and in some cases, are performed to relieve higher-graded employees/ action officers of the more routine aspects of the work.
Experience required: Applicant must have applicable experience that demonstrates the possession of the competencies necessary for immediate success in the position. Qualifying experience may have been acquired in any public or private sector job, but will clearly demonstrate past experience in the application of the particular competencies necessary to successfully perform the duties of the position. Such experience is typically in or directly related to the work of the position to be filled. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.

Specialized Experience GG-04: To qualify, applicants must have one year of specialized experience equivalent to the next lower grade/level, (GS/GG-03). Specialized experience is defined as experience assisting with intelligence related research utilizing library holdings, photographs, statistics, graphics and maps; gathering and reviewing a variety of narrative and/or statistical data to prepare intelligence reports; and/or conducting analysis of intelligence data to support conclusions or recommend actions.
You will be evaluated on the basis of your level of competency in the following areas:

NOTE: Creditable experience may include previous military experience, experience gained in the private sector, or experience gained in another government agency so long as it was at a level at least equivalent to the next lower grade in the series.

EDUCATION:

Some federal jobs allow you to substitute your education for the required experience in order to qualify. For this position, you may qualify if your education meets the definition below:

Successfully completed Two years of education above the high school level obtained in an accredited business, secretarial or technical school, junior college, college or university.

OR

Combination of Education and Experience: A combination of education and experience may be used to qualify for this position as long as the computed percentage of the requirements is at least 100%. To compute the percentage of the requirements, divide your total months of experience by 12. Then divide your semester hours of by 60. Add the two percentages.

Only degrees from an accredited college or university recognized by the Department of Education are acceptable to meet positive education requirements or to substitute education for experience.
 
Foreign education must be evaluated for U.S. equivalency in order to be considered for this position. Please submit your foreign education evaluation with your application.

CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT:

1. Must be able to obtain and maintain a Top Secret security clearance based on an SSBI with eligibility for sensitive compartmented information (SCI).

2. You will be required to provide proof of U.S Citizenship.
 
3. IAW Change 3 to AR 600-85 Alcohol and Drug Abuse Prevention and Control Program, the incumbent must successfully pass a urinalysis screening for illegal drug use prior to appointment and periodically thereafter.
4. Employee must be available for rotational, and/or temporary duty assignments 25% or less of the work schedule.
5. All INSCOM employees may be subject to extended TDY or worldwide deployments during crisis situations to perform mission essential functions as determined by management.

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION:
Male applicants born after December 31, 1959, must complete a Pre-Employment Certification Statement for Selective Service Registration.

You will be required to provide proof of U.S. Citizenship.

Two year trial/probationary period may be required.

Direct Deposit of Pay is required.

Salary includes applicable locality pay or Local Market Supplement.

Payment of Permanent Change of Station (PCS) costs is not authorized, based on a determination that a PCS move is not in the Government’s best interest.
