Hillary Scholten for Congress Campaign Intern
Hillary Scholten for Congress is seeking talented and energetic full- and part-time interns to join our team and help win one of this year's most competitive House races. We are looking to bring on interns to assist with field, finance, communications, and operations.
Hillary Scholten is a West Michigan native, a mom, and a public interest attorney who served in the Department of Justice during the Obama Administration. She lives in Grand Rapids with her husband, Jesse, and two sons. Michigan’s Third Congressional District encompasses all or part of 5 counties, stretching from Grand Rapids to Battle Creek and Albion. The race has been added to the DCCC’s Red to Blue program and is rated as a toss-up race by Politico.
Interns will be assigned to either the Finance or Field teams and will be responsible for a variety of tasks related to the operation of the campaign, including assisting with research, events, media monitoring, social media, volunteer coordination, drafting memos, and other projects as needed. Ideal candidates are driven, thorough, and excited to learn more about how a professional political campaign is run.
Finance specific responsibilities:
- Assist with identifying potential donors
- Assist with ensuring that candidate call time runs smoothly
- Make event calls and help with event logistics
- Draft memos and policy questionnaires
- Data entry as needed
Field specific responsibilities
- Assist in the recruitment and training of volunteers
- Assist in every aspect of voter contact
- Edit and write voter contact scripts
- Maintain the integrity of the campaign’s voter and volunteer database
