Job Description
OVERVIEW OF ROLE (Scope)
Support the indirect tax compliance process by preparing and or coordinating the preparation of various indirect tax filings. This position will require independent research and monitoring of various tax issues. The ideal candidate has experience with sale and use tax compliance, strong research skills, proficiency with tax technology and Microsoft Office (Excel, PowerPoint Word), the ability to work in a team and effective interpersonal skills.
KEY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Tax Compliance
- Responsible for preparation, coordination and review of various indirect tax return filings (sales/use, commercial rent tax, unclaimed property, VAT etc.).
- Prepare and or coordinate the preparation of gross receipts tax returns.
- Handle set up and registration for sales tax (US) or VAT (abroad) compliance.
- Research issues involving sales and use tax exemptions and exclusions.
- Maintain a database of executed resale and exemption certificates.
- Assist in the preparation of Forms 1042 and 1042S.
Tax Planning
- Assist in researching and analyzing tax nexus issues and keep current with changing nexus laws.
- Assist VP of Tax Operations and Director of Tax to coordinate and review cost saving strategies with outside consultants and subject matter experts within the company. Prepare exposure and benefit analysis as needed.
Tax Accounting and Audit
- Assist VP Income Tax Accounting and VP Tax Operations with any necessary FAS 5 tax reserves related to indirect tax.
Tax Controversy
- Assist VP Tax Operations with various indirect tax audits from domestic jurisdictions.
- Keep track of international VAT audits by liaising with local tax managers and consultants.

Technical/Functional Competencies Strong Technical proficiency with Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Outlook, PowerPoint) Knowledge of reporting systems (HFM, Oracle) and the role of technology in tax departments Technical proficiency in tax research Knowledge of tax laws and regulations Familiarity with One Source tax compliance and provision software Strong quantitative and analytical skills
Key Experiences/Achievements Three to five years of corporate and / or public accounting tax experience with exposure to indirect tax and or VAT preparation Bachelor’s Degree preferred - GPA 3.2 or above Licensed CPA a plus Experience in the Media and Entertainment a plus Big Four internship or other experience a plus
