Engineering Intern
WSDOT has several exciting engineering internships available this summer throughout the state. These are unique opportunities for currently enrolled students looking to apply their classroom training to real world scenarios. The Transportation Engineer (TE) internships provide the opportunity to gain valuable experience in the practical application of engineering procedures, concepts, and techniques in an on-the-job environment.
Under the direct guidance and mentorship of an experienced Engineer, TE Interns will assist in a variety of entry-level engineering duties, to include:
- Construction office engineering with tasks such as checking calculations of elevations, grades, earthwork, etc.
- Field inspections with tasks such as collecting material samples, performing materials testing, preparing field note records, and collecting tickets.
- Preparation of contract change orders.
- Preparation of design reports; traffic data, access reports, environmental documentation, and research.
- Preparation and conformance inspections of plans, specifications, and estimates.
- Compilation of final records.
- Collection of data and general reporting.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
