PAWS Wildlife Center Admissions Internship

As development encroaches on wildlife habitat, PAWS' nationally recognized wildlife rehabilitation center rehabilitates sick, injured, and orphaned animals and educates people about peaceful co-existence with wildlife.

Interns assist and support the Wildlife Admissions Specialists in the daily operations of the intake area. Interns gain valuable, practical experience in animal intake, species identification, and wildlife/human conflict resolution.

Job Duties:
  • Admit animals
  • Answer a high volume of telephone calls and respond to voicemail
  • Provide excellent customer service to members of the public, often in sensitive situations
  • Advise members of the public regarding wildlife situations
  • Administrative duties including filing, photocopying, and data entry
  • Clean and maintain the lobby and exam room
  • Other tasks as required

Qualifications:
Applicants must be current college students, recent graduates, or career changers, possess a strong interest in non-profit administration and wildlife rehabilitation. The ideal applicant is a highly motivated, detail-oriented self-starter with excellent written and verbal communication skills and proficiency in MS Office. Applicants must be able to:
  • Read, write and speak English fluently.
  • Work independently and as a part of a team.
  • Perform tedious tasks for long periods of time.
  • Complete detailed projects with little supervision.
  • Work quickly, efficiently, and calmly under stressful conditions and handle multiple responsibilities while precisely following instructions and protocols.
·        Work cooperatively with co-workers (volunteers, interns, and staff).
  • Represent PAWS professionally at all times.

This internship is unpaid, but eligible for academic or course credit if approved by your educational institution.
