Materials Science Research & Development Engineer - Crystal Growth

Position Summary
We are looking for a talented, hands-on Materials Science Research & Development Engineer to take a leadership research role advancing the state-of-the-art in thin film and bulk crystal growth using vapor transport, deposition and epitaxial methods. We are particularly looking for candidates with equal experience in hands-on design and construction of these vacuum-based systems as well as a good theoretical understanding (and modeling capability) of the growth processes. This position encompasses a variety of innovative technologies such as: nanomaterials, nano- and quantum- electronics, photovoltaics, phononics, optics, topological insulators, and 2-D materials.
Position Requirements
Candidates (chemical, materials or closely related engineering degrees) should have at least: a bachelor’s degree with four years of relevant full-time employment experience, a master’s degree with two years’ experience, or a PhD with directly relevant experience. Specific experience involving, but not limited to, each of the following areas is required:
•            Design, operation, construction and maintenance of ultra-high vacuum systems;
•            Thermal transport theory and modeling of vacuum vapor deposition/growth systems;
•            Construction of custom thin film or (preferably) bulk crystal vapor deposition/growth chambers;
•            Crystallographic, electronic and optical characterization of semiconductors;
•            Mechanical experience used in the conception, design and fabrication of experimental systems.

Candidates should have interest in one or more of the following technical areas:

•            Photonics                           •    Nanomaterials                          •    Optoelectronics
•            Semiconductors                              •    Electronic materials               •    Multiphysics Modeling

US citizenship required due to strict ITAR regulations
GPA for all degrees must be at least 3.3
