Tax Provision Intern, Corporate - Spring 2019

Be a part of an innovative team and culture…
The Tax Provision team is a group of tax professionals reporting to the Senior Vice President of Tax that oversee tax accounting and tax financial planning and analysis functions within the Corporate Tax department at The Walt Disney Company. The primary responsibilities of the tax provision team are to provide materially accurate income tax-related disclosures on quarterly SEC filings as well as periodic income tax forecasts to management.

A Day in the Life…
·       Run reports and analyze entries in the general ledger (SAP), preparing work papers to summarize activities in the income tax accounts and gathering supporting documents to substantiate the activities
·       Communicating and working with various tax personnel; attend quarterly tax summary calls
·       Reconcile data or assist with data analysis needed for the tax provision calculation, documentation or external audit support
·       Assisting with preparation of Uncertain Tax Positions (FIN 48) calculations
·       Assisting with Sarbanes Oxley (SOX) control compliance
·       Various tasks supporting tax provision function

What we are looking for…
·       Self-motivated team player that has an interest in learning tax provision (ASC 740)
·       Demonstrated strong organizational skills and attention to detail
·       Demonstrated strong interpersonal and communication skills
·       Demonstrated analytical and problem solving skills
·       Understanding of accounting principles, familiarity with SOX Control
·       Intermediate or higher Excel skills

Also a plus…
·       Work experience in an accounting department or accounting firm
·       A tax class within their degree coursework

Required Education
·       Rising senior level or higher pursuing a degree in Accounting and or Tax
·       GPA of 3.0 or higher




Program Eligibility
·       At least 18 years of age
·       Unrestricted work authorization
·       Available part-time (16-24 hours per week in blocks of 4+ hours) from January through July.
·       Ability to provide own relocation, housing and transportation. Position is located in Glendale, CA.
·       Enrolled in a bachelor’s program at a college/university taking at least one class in the semester prior to participation in the internship program, or within six months of graduation
