Strategic Initiatives Intern – Student Professional/Technical Worker
ODOT Headquarters – Director's Office

Salem

Are you a forward thinking college student looking for a summer with an impact? Join ODOT's Office of Innovation and get to work on cutting-edge issues in the field of transportation policy. Be in the room where it happens!

During the next several months, a major area of work for the Office of Innovation will be automated vehicle policy. The Oregon Legislature recently directed ODOT to convene and staff a task force on automated vehicles comprised of elected officials, law enforcement, local jurisdictions, truck and automobile interests, consumer interests, worker interests, and many more. The task force is charged with delivering recommendations for automated vehicle legislation to the legislature by September 15th. The Office of Innovation will have primary responsibility for staffing the task force, preparing materials, facilitating meetings, and drafting the final report and recommendations. In addition, the Office of Innovation is studying options to develop an innovative tolling technology system, as well conducting several pilots related to road usage charging.

We are looking for a driven and independent graduate or undergraduate college intern to assist the Office of Innovation in staffing the task force on automated vehicles and in supporting our policy work relating to value pricing, road usage charging, connected vehicle, and electric vehicle policy development.
