Global Consulting Solutions Intern

Internship Program

FSG’s Global Consulting Solutions (GCS) team works with our clients on projects across the key decisions and workflows of the world’s largest multinationals, with primary focus on strategic planning, commercial execution and course correction. Our clients span multiple industries including healthcare, industrial products, consumer goods, and technology.

FSG is seeking paid interns to start immediately. Qualified candidates will be able to work 20 - 40 hours per week starting immediately with the option to work through the 2018 Spring semester. This intern program is ideal for current students with interest in emerging markets and aspiring to a career in global business consulting.

The program is designed to offer students an opportunity to learn FSG’s consulting methodologies and frameworks, and build consulting skills, through a combination of training, mentorship, and hands-on experience of solving real-world client problems. Participants in the program are offered the opportunity to build relationships with FSG’s GCS team, and business leaders, as well as the opportunity to interact with Fortune 500 executives.

Specific capabilities the program will develop include:

  • Problem solving and creative reasoning
  • Conducting effective primary-source research and interviews
  • Frameworks and approaches for transforming data to create business insights
  • Writing and creating compelling messages for an executive audience
  • Survey design and statistical analysis of results
  • Sourcing and creating datasets in data-poor markets

Candidates need to demonstrate an interest in emerging markets and relevant coursework in business, economics, and/or statistics. Preference will be given to candidates with fluency in Spanish. Current graduate students are preferred, though FSG may consider undergraduate seniors.

Job Description & Responsibilities

The GCS team works with our clients on a project basis on engagements such as market sizing, customer needs assessment, distribution performance optimization, and market prioritization.

Interns will receive training, coaching, and mentorship that will enable them to:

  • Work as a member of a small project team on global consulting engagements
  • Conduct qualitative analysis by identifying, recruiting, and interviewing relevant subject matter experts
  • Implement quantitative analysis, such as analysis of survey responses and construction of market sizing models
  • Conduct interviews with industry practitioners, experts and clients
  • Assist in writing consulting deliverables that are concise, insightful, and actionable for a senior executive reader

Qualifications & Experience

  • Interested in the subject matter of FSG
  • Enthusiastic about the possibilities of growing a business
  • Self-starter with strong problem-solving skills
  • Proficiency in Spanish or/and Portuguese
  • Thrives in a fast-paced environment
  • Rigorous analytical mindset; strong quantitative experience
  • Experience within global consulting, or one of FSG’s key industry segments (industrials, consumer goods, or healthcare)
  • Experience living or working in an emerging market
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills
  • Highly process-and-detail-orientated
  • Ongoing academic coursework in business, economics, or statistics
  • Preference for current graduate students; undergraduate seniors may be considered
  • Prefer but not required fluency in a second language, preferably Spanish.
