Payroll/Project Assistant

OFFICE OVERVIEW
The U.S. Small Business Administration (SBA), Office of the Chief Human Capital Officer (OCHCO) is responsible for developing and implementing SBA’s human capital strategy to carry out this Federal agency’s responsibilities for selecting, developing, and managing a high-caliber workforce ready to support America’s entrepreneurs as they seize opportunities to grow and reach new economic markets.

The OCHCO is also accountable for the SBA’s overall human capital program, which includes human resources policy, recruitment, employee development, retention, executive resources, strategic workforce planning, performance management, compensation and benefits, leave administration, labor & employee relations, work/life, and HR IT systems.

ABOUT INTERNSHIP & DUTIES
There are an internship openings for a Payroll Assistant and a Project Assistant to the OCHCO Project Manager for the Human Resources (HR) Transformation Project to automate and migrate the agency's personnel and payroll software and processes. The internships are located in the HR Information Systems and Payroll Division of the OCHCO.

The Payroll Assistant will utilize MS Excel to create spreadsheets, create PowerPoint products for management presentations, and analyze payroll trends (hires/separations, pay actions, etc.). The Project Assistant will participate in the following activities: assisting with project scheduling and adjustments; organizing - scheduling and coordinating project meetings; monitoring - updating project progress; innovation - coming up with new task tracking solutions; representing - liaising with SBA HR Systems project team members and end users.
