About Us:

The City of North Miami Beach is located in northeastern Miami-Dade County midway between Miami and Fort Lauderdale. North Miami Beach is primarily a residential and shopping community. The City provides a full range of municipal services including public safety, public works, parks and recreation facilities, public library, code compliance, planning and zoning, economic development and general and administrative services.

If you are a college/university student looking for a meaningful, stimulating internship experience, the City of North Miami Beach is for you, specifically, The office of The City Manager. The City Manager serves as the chief executive officer of the City organization and is responsible for the execution of council policy and for the management of day to day operations of City government. The key responsibility of the chosen intern is to provide administrative support to the City Manager and staff. This internship will expose students to career options within a municipal government environment. The internship commitment will be a minimum of 20 hours per week. Internship extension and additional hours are welcome.  

 

Responsibilities:

This internship is designed to be both educational and practical. The chosen intern will be assigned special tasks such as invoice processing, statistical research work and project management.

 

Requirements:

Must be currently enrolled in a college/university.
Prefer students in the following academic programs: Public Administration, Economics, Political Science & Government or a related field.

Committed to a minimum of 20 hours per week.

Long term career interest in Government is preferred

Skills:

Ability to communicate effectively both verbally and written.
Analytical skills and ability to learn quickly.
Computer proficiency and intermediate Microsoft Office skills.
Ability to establish and maintain good working relationships with co-workers and the general public.
Overall good customer service skills required.
