Neighborhood Blogger
Job Title: Neighborhood Blogger, Gold Coast & Near North (Part-Time, Paid)
Employer: Gold Coast Realty
Location: Remote, but you must live in or near Chicago’s Gold Coast
Job Type: Part-time, paid
Start Date: As soon as possible
About Us
Gold Coast Realty is a Chicago real estate company focused on the Gold Coast and the neighborhoods around it. Our blog at goldcoastrealty-chicago.com is where we share what’s actually happening in the area. We want it written by someone who lives here.
The Role
We’re looking for a college student who knows the neighborhood firsthand and can write about it in a way that sounds like a neighbor, not a brochure. You’ll cover:
- New developments and construction projects
- Luxury condos that just listed or just sold
- Restaurant and bar openings (and closings)
- Local events worth going to
- New and noteworthy small businesses
Some posts will mean walking over to a new spot, talking to an owner, or checking out a building in person. That’s the point. We want details you can only get by being there.
Who We’re Looking For
- You live in the Gold Coast or a nearby neighborhood (Streeterville, River North, Old Town, Lincoln Park, or the Near North Side)
- You have a proven blogging track record, such as a personal blog, campus publication, Substack, or freelance work, and can share links
- You have a real interest in real estate and how neighborhoods change
- You write in your own voice. We’re not interested in generic, AI-generated content. We want someone with opinions, observations, and a feel for the neighborhood.
- You’re reliable with deadlines and comfortable working independently
Nice to Have
- Photography skills (phone photos are fine if they’re good)
- Familiarity with basic SEO or WordPress-style publishing
- Studying journalism, communications, English, marketing, or urban planning
Compensation
This is a paid position. We’ll discuss pay during the interview process.
How to Apply
Submit your resume along with:
- Links to current blogs you write for or own
- A short paragraph (150 words max) about your favorite spot in the neighborhood and why. This is your first audition, so make it sound like you.
Finalists may be asked to complete a short paid or live writing exercise.
