Digital Marketing Specialist

Part-Time | Freelance / Contract Opportunity | San Francisco Bay Area / Remote

Gotham Studios, an Emmy Award-winning creative production company, is expanding into integrated marketing and seeking an experienced digital marketing specialist to join our team on a part-time basis.

Our initial focus is performing arts organizations in San Francisco, with the opportunity to grow alongside Gotham's developing marketing practice.

We're looking for someone who knows how to take excellent creative material—videos, photography, graphics, and compelling copy—and turn it into effective digital marketing campaigns that build audiences, generate engagement, and sell tickets.

What you'll do

  • Social media: Manage and schedule posts across Facebook, Instagram, YouTube, and potentially TikTok, adapting content for each platform.
  • Audience targeting: Identify and reach potential new audiences, including younger arts and music enthusiasts, using organic and paid digital marketing.
  • Digital advertising: Plan and manage modest Meta and Google advertising campaigns, monitor performance, and optimize results.
  • Email marketing: Prepare and distribute promotional campaigns, manage mailing lists, and develop effective audience segmentation.
  • Website: Maintain and update promotional content, optimize event pages, and coordinate basic search-engine optimization.
  • Analytics: Track engagement, website traffic, email performance, advertising results, and ticket-sale conversions where data is available.
  • Campaign coordination: Maintain a marketing calendar, manage deadlines, and help ensure that campaigns are executed consistently and on time.
  • Client communication: Participate in occasional planning meetings and represent Gotham Studios professionally.

You'll work directly with Gotham's founder and creative director, who will lead campaign concepts, copywriting, graphic design, and video production.

What we're looking for

  • Ideally 2–3 years of practical digital marketing experience, in or out of school, including hands-on campaign execution.
  • Proficiency with Meta Business Suite, digital advertising tools, email marketing platforms, and basic analytics.
  • Experience targeting audiences and evaluating campaign effectiveness.
  • Familiarity with website content management and practical SEO.
  • Strong organizational skills, responsiveness, and the ability to work independently.
  • Excellent communication skills and confidence participating in client meetings.
  • Experience marketing performing arts, music, cultural organizations, or nonprofits is highly desirable.
  • Basic video production skills are welcome but not required. Gotham handles professional video production in-house.

The arrangement

  • Hours: Approximately 4–6 hours weekly to start, with additional hours during active concert campaigns, by mutual agreement.
  • Location: Remote, with a preference for San Francisco Bay Area candidates who know the local arts market.
  • Compensation: Anticipated range of $40–$60 per hour, depending on qualifications and agreed responsibilities.
  • Start: As soon as practicable following confirmation of our initial client engagement.
  • Status: This is an anticipated opportunity, contingent upon finalization of a client contract. Employment classification and contractual terms will be confirmed before engagement.

The right person will have an opportunity to become a valued part of Gotham's expanding marketing practice, work directly with clients, and help shape how we bring exceptional creative work to new audiences.
