Publishing Marketing Intern

Publisher Spotlight is looking for a part-time intern for the Spring 2027 Semester. We provide publicity and marketing for children's book publishers. With 25+ clients from around the world, we have a unique opportunity to promote and celebrate diversity and excellence. Our conference marketing services serve for a broad range of children's publishers ranging from the big New York houses to critically-acclaimed publishers like Candlewick and Eerdmans Books for Young Readers. This is a hybrid opportunity with one day each week in our Smyrna office. All hours must be completed within a normal 8-5 workday. Preference will be given to those candidates who are planning a career in the publishing industry. 

Responsibilities include:

Contribute to website, Pinterest, YouTube, instagram, Bluesky, LinkedIn, and other social media as directed

Research media for specific target marketing campaigns

Research and maintain review databases

Research, evaluate and execute award submissions

Assist in sending review materials to journals and influencers

Assist in planning and preparing for trade shows

Search for media coverage for publisher clients

Assist at library and educational conferences

Pitch letter writing

News Release writing

Marketing Plan creation

Publishing industry research

The following could also be included if it falls within the candidate's expertise:

--Website content

--Book Trailer development

--Marketing materials design

This position is in Smyrna, Tennessee, a suburb of Nashville.

Candidates with backgrounds in Publishing, Public Relations, Marketing, English, and Journalism are welcome to apply. Recent graduates and grad students will also be considered. Interns should be strong writers, creative thinkers, self-motivated, and interested in pursuing a career in publishing.
