Founder Brand & Social Media Intern

About the Organization

DancePhreakz is a dynamic, women-owned, and BIPOC-led dance and entertainment production company revolutionizing the industry. We bring creativity, energy, and authenticity to the world of dance and movement. Through our four divisions—Production, Apparel, Academy, and our newly acquired studio and event space—we are building a platform where BIPOC movement artists thrive, fostering a community that is unapologetically fierce, creative, and ready to make an impact.

Position Overview

DancePhreakz is seeking a creative and social-media-savvy Founder Brand & Social Media Intern to help develop and grow the Founder & CEO's personal and professional brand.

This role is ideal for someone who genuinely enjoys social media, content creation, digital storytelling, and creator culture. The intern will help document the real journey of a Founder & CEO working across entertainment, media, creative production, entrepreneurship, business consulting, and community development.

This is not an internship designed to teach social media from the ground up. Candidates should already understand major social platforms, be comfortable creating and editing content, and know how to use social media to increase engagement, reach, and community.

The intern's primary responsibility will be the Founder & CEO's personal brand, while occasionally collaborating with affiliated businesses and projects when relevant. The intern will not be responsible for independently managing the full social media presence of every affiliated company.

This is a part-time, grant-funded internship with a hybrid work structure combining remote work with scheduled in-person responsibilities throughout the Los Angeles area.

Key Responsibilities

  • Assist with developing and executing the Founder & CEO's social media and personal brand strategy.
  • Create content for Instagram, TikTok, Threads, LinkedIn, YouTube/Shorts, and other relevant platforms.
  • Film and independently edit short-form video content, including Reels, TikToks, Shorts, and Stories.
  • Create graphics, carousels, Reel covers, captions, hooks, and other social content.
  • Maintain a content calendar and help develop recurring content series.
  • Identify content opportunities from meetings, productions, events, business activities, and the Founder & CEO's everyday journey.
  • Repurpose content across platforms while adapting it for different audiences.
  • Assist with community engagement and track social media performance and analytics.
  • Research social trends, creators, brands, collaborations, and content opportunities.
  • Identify appropriate cross-brand content opportunities involving affiliated businesses and projects.
  • Research relevant events, conferences, podcasts, panels, media opportunities, screenings, creator events, and industry spaces that can expand the Founder & CEO's visibility and network.
  • Assist with capturing content at selected productions, meetings, shoots, and events.
  • Identify and coordinate cross-brand content opportunities between the Founder & CEO's personal platforms and affiliated businesses/projects.
  • Help determine when content should live on the Founder & CEO's platform, a company platform, or be published as a collaborative post.
  • Repurpose relevant company content for the Founder & CEO's platforms while adapting the story and messaging for the personal brand.
  • Capture founder-focused behind-the-scenes content during business activities, productions, events, workshops, and company initiatives.
  • Collaborate with other social media/content team members when content overlaps across brands.
  • Help ensure the Founder & CEO's personal platforms maintain their own identity and do not simply become repost pages for affiliated businesses.

Required Qualifications

  • Strong knowledge of Instagram, TikTok, Threads, LinkedIn, and YouTube/Shorts.
  • Experience creating social media content through personal, professional, freelance, school, internship, or organizational projects.
  • Ability to independently edit short-form video.
  • Experience with Canva, CapCut, Adobe Creative Suite, or comparable tools.
  • Understanding of Reels, TikToks, Stories, carousels, hooks, captions, trends, and calls to action.
  • Understanding of social media analytics, engagement, reach, and audience growth.
  • Strong visual, written, and storytelling skills.
  • Organized, dependable, creative, and comfortable managing multiple deadlines.
  • Genuinely interested in social media, creator culture, entertainment, entrepreneurship, and digital storytelling.
  • Able to attend scheduled in-person assignments throughout the Los Angeles area.
  • Reliable transportation.

Preferred Qualifications

  • 2+ year of social media, content creation, digital marketing, or related experience.
  • Experience managing a business, organization, creator, entertainment, fitness, dance, or lifestyle account.
  • Experience filming content using a smartphone and/or camera.
  • Basic graphic design skills.
  • Experience with content calendars and scheduling platforms.
  • Understanding of social media analytics.
  • Familiarity with entertainment, dance, fitness, podcasting, digital media, or creator culture.
  • Familiarity with the Los Angeles entertainment, creator, business, and cultural landscape.
  • Current college students, recent graduates, and early-career professionals are welcome to apply.
  • A college degree is not required.

What You'll Gain

This internship provides hands-on experience in founder branding, social media strategy, content creation, digital storytelling, short-form video, community development, analytics, entertainment marketing, creator partnerships, and professional opportunity research.

The intern will work closely with the Founder & CEO and gain behind-the-scenes exposure to building businesses, producing creative projects, developing media properties, and growing a founder-led brand in real time.

Work Structure & Growth Opportunity

This is a hybrid, part-time, grant-funded internship combining remote work with scheduled in-person assignments throughout Los Angeles. Some evening and weekend availability may be needed for productions and events.

Strong performance may lead to consideration for an ongoing part-time position with expanded hours and responsibilities, based on performance, organizational needs, and available funding. Continued employment is not guaranteed.

You do not need professional experience in dance or media to apply. Strong social media instincts, creativity, and a willingness to understand our communities are more important.
