Content Creator

Bring Liberty to life! Do you love creating content that makes people stop scrolling? Are you the person who is always taking photos, shooting video, thinking about the next reel, or coming up with a better way to tell a story? If so, we're looking for you to join our Public Relations & Communications team. 

This is a brand-new position on a small, collaborative team. As such, you’ll have the opportunity to bring your creativity, ideas, and perspective to the table while helping shape how the City of Liberty and Visit Liberty connect with our community, visitors, and future residents. From capturing a great moment at a community event to creating a video that showcases what makes Liberty special, you’ll help tell the story of our community through photography, video, graphics, social media, and written content.

Essential Functions:

• Create engaging photography, video, graphics, and written content for City of Liberty and Visit Liberty social media channels and digital platforms.
• Develop creative content for platforms such as Facebook, Instagram, TikTok, Reels, and Stories.
• Capture real-time photo and video coverage at City events, community initiatives, public meetings, and tourism activities.
• Work closely with the Tourism Marketing Strategist to create content that showcases Liberty as a premier regional travel destination.
• Help develop creative concepts, write copy and scripts, and bring ideas from concept to finished product.
• Design graphics and marketing materials that align with City and Visit Liberty brand identities.
• Organize and maintain a high-quality photo and video library for use across websites, publications, marketing materials, and media.
• Stay current with trends in social media, content creation, video editing, and digital communications.
• Collaborate with departments throughout the City to discover and tell stories that matter to our community.
• Bring new ideas to the table and help us continually improve Liberty's digital presence.

Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:

• 1–3 years of experience in digital content creation, social media, videography, photography, public relations, communications, marketing, graphic design, or a related field. Relevant internships and portfolio experience count!
• A bachelor's degree in journalism, communications, public relations, digital media, marketing, graphic design, or a related field is preferred, but not required.
• A strong understanding of social media platforms and digital audience engagement.
• Experience or demonstrated ability in photography, videography, video editing, and graphic design.
• Familiarity with tools such as Adobe Creative Suite, Canva, Microsoft Office, and social media management platforms such as Sprout Social or similar software.
• Strong writing and communication skills, including knowledge of grammar and AP Style.
• A creative mindset and an eye for what makes compelling content.
• The ability to work independently, take initiative, and manage projects while also being a strong team player.
• A willingness to learn, experiment, and stay on top of emerging digital trends.
• A valid driver's license and reliable transportation.
• Availability to work evenings, weekends, and holidays for special events and community or tourism coverage.
• Must acquire a Drone Pilot license within one year of hire.
