Gallery Manager

Gallery Management Internship Overview

Pedestal is curating BASECAMP Collective, a three-week pop-up gallery at Market Station in Downtown Denver, for the second year running. We're looking for a Gallery Host to help install the exhibition and independently manage the gallery across all three exhibition weekends. If the position is filled by September 15, the role can expand to include pre-event planning meetings, deinstall, and additional assigned projects which would be a good fit for those looking for art administration experience.

 

KEY DETAILS Organization: Pedestal (gallery curator), in partnership with Market Station and Fireside at Five 

Location: Market Station, Downtown Denver, CO (on-site) 
Dates: December 4–6, 11–13, and 18–20 (plus planning meetings and deinstall if the extended track applies) 
Time commitment: ~43 hours (install + all three weekends); ~60 hours on the extended track if filled by Sept 15 
Compensation: $800 stipend, paid by Pedestal. 
Eligible applicants: Those looking for experience in gallery management, arts administration and especially those passionate about art. 

 

WHAT YOU'LL DO 
• Help with installation and deinstallation of the gallery. 
• Independently manage and host the gallery for all three exhibition weekends. You will be welcoming visitors, talking about the work on view, and handling sales. 
• Collaborate with a marketing firm (Fireside at Five) and their client (Market Station). 
If the position is filled by September 15, the role also includes: Joining pre-event planning meetings virtually and watching the whole show come together. Coordinating with Colorado artists working on site mock-ups and layouts. 

 

WHAT YOU'LL GAIN 

• Hands-on gallery management, operations, retail and art sales experience. 
• Direct visitor-facing experience running a gallery floor and exhibition install experience. 
• Experience working alongside a marketing firm and a commercial client. 
• On the extended track: artist relations, event production and logistics, deinstall experience, and marketing/social media training.

Core total ~43 hrs If the position is filled by September 15, the role expands to include: Optional add-on (if filled by Sept 15) Approx. hours Pre-event planning meetings (attended virtually) 8–10 Deinstallation 4–6 Assigned projects — artist coordination, open-call review, logistics 10–15 Extended total (core + optional) ~60 hrs Hours are approximate and flexible to fit your program's credit requirements.
