About the Role
We are looking for a thoughtful, creative, and mission-driven Social Impact & Community Intern to help our portfolio companies build stronger relationships with the people and communities they serve.
Across the portfolio, our companies work with patients, parents, caregivers, clinicians, students, employees, customers, local organizations, and other stakeholders. Understanding these communities—and developing programs that genuinely respond to their needs—is essential to building enduring businesses.
You may work primarily with one portfolio company or support projects involving several businesses. Potential assignments could include healthcare access, patient and family engagement, employee programs, local partnerships, educational initiatives, community events, or industry-wide initiatives.
This is not an observational internship. You will take ownership of defined projects and help turn community needs and feedback into practical programs, partnerships, resources, and recommendations.
What You’ll Do
Depending on portfolio needs and your experience, responsibilities may include:
Researching the needs of patients, families, customers, employees, and local communities
Conducting interviews, surveys, focus groups, and listening sessions
Developing community-engagement strategies and recommendations
Building relationships with schools, nonprofits, healthcare providers, advocacy groups, and local organizations
Supporting educational programs, community events, webinars, and roundtables
Creating practical resources for patients, parents, caregivers, or customers
Helping portfolio companies improve communication with the communities they serve
Collecting and sharing stories that illustrate a company’s impact
Supporting initiatives designed to improve healthcare access, education, safety, or quality of life
Measuring participation, engagement, and program outcomes
Creating repeatable systems for managing community relationships and partnerships
Example Projects
Projects could include:
Developing programming for a national pediatric-therapy industry initiative
Interviewing parents and clinicians to understand barriers to pediatric care
Building a partnership pipeline of pediatricians, schools, and family organizations
Developing a community-engagement strategy for a new healthcare location
Creating educational resources for patients, caregivers, or families
Supporting community outreach for a mental-health, primary-care, or specialty-medical company
Developing an employee or customer community program for an essential-services business
Measuring the impact of a portfolio company’s community initiatives
Coordinating an event involving families, clinicians, community leaders, or industry experts
