ABOUT US:

The Bali Dyslexia Foundation (BDF) is a registered charitable organisation based in North Bali, Indonesia, working to advance inclusive education in underserved communities. Our mission is clear: Include the Excluded. We provide dyslexia screening, literacy intervention, and teacher training programmes, creating long-term systemic change across Buleleng Regency.

In 2019, BDF established the North Bali School of the Arts (NBSA) as its dedicated campus and operational hub. NBSA is an eco-conscious, fully inclusive international campus that delivers creative education while hosting international interns and volunteers.

Interns contribute directly to charitable programmes in literacy development, arts education, environmental projects, and community outreach. Placements are hands-on, cross-cultural, and impact-driven—designed for students seeking practical experience in education, social development, and inclusive practice within a dynamic international setting.

"Navigating Through the Charity Sector: Digital, Development & Impact”

Location: North Bali School of the Arts (NBSA) Campus, Bali
Hosted by: Bali Dyslexia Foundation (BDF)

This internship takes the form of a workshop-style programe, focused on developing skills and insights into careers within the charity sector.

Program Overview

This immersive, cohort-based internship runs 4 times a year, with each placement lasting a minimum of 3 weeks.

Target Group: Minimum 12 students per cohort

Participants join a cross-university cohort from across the UK, offering a dynamic opportunity to collaborate both professionally and socially, build meaningful global connections, and gain direct experience in real NGO operations.

Key Focus Areas

Before orientation, interns receive an information pack and can select focus areas, of the 5 listed below, they wish to work on each week.  For example, past interns have produced promotional content on TikTok and Instagram to publicise fundraising events for digital marketing and communications. Additionally, students have built partnerships with Sixth Forms in the UK to organise Turing-funded placements in Bali under charity development and fundraising strategies or visited local government schools in assisting lessons for inclusive education.

About You

You do not need prior experience in education or charity work—just bring your enthusiasm, initiative, and willingness to learn.

Accommodation and Living: 

• This is a voluntary role. To support interns with their personal expenses, BDF provides a weekly stipend of 500,000 IDR.
• We also offer optional accommodation at our NBSA campus at a reduced rate compared to local rentals. All meals are included, and you’ll enjoy: 
  • Fully equipped modern kitchen: gas hobs, fridge-freezer, microwave, blender, rice cooker, kettle, and more
  • Weekly stocked fridge with fresh, healthy essentials: seasonal local fruit, vegetables, tempeh, tofu, rice, noodles, bread, potatoes, tea, coffee, and mineral water
  • Comfortable accommodation: Shared or private rooms with workspaces and Wi-Fi
  • Shared garden and creative spaces

Summary

Salary

This is a voluntary role with a registered Indonesian charity. However, BDF provides some support with a weekly stipend of 500,000 IDR to help cover living expenses and accommodation: discounted compared to local rentals and an all meals, inclusive package. 

Location

BDF is located in the heart of North Bali. Lovina is a dolphin town, filled with local restaurants, bars and tourist attractions.
