Job description

MerriPat Productions is seeking an Office Production Assistant to join the team in our Chinatown office. The Office Production Assistant will primarily support the directors but will also be a key member working directly on our upcoming projects. The Office Production Assistant will also serve as a central resource for the office and will help facilitate general operations. Built into the role are opportunities to grow within the production company, to own aspects of the team’s workflow, and to gain hands-on experience with all stages of the documentary production process. This position is full-time, in-person, and requires working Monday through Friday at our office space inside of DCTV’s historic firehouse. Rate is $900-$1050 per week to start.


Responsibilities include

  • Manage directors’ calendars and communications; serve as the main point of contact for external partners.
  • Address any and all needs of directors by creative problem-solving and multitasking, adapting as situations evolve and handling odd tasks as they come up.
  • Assist producers with needs for all stages of the production cycle, ranging from development support, shoot preparation, transcript editing, and all other tasks that need hands.
  • Help shape the direction of potential projects by preparing research materials for projects in development.
  • Serve as a central resource for team processes, helping to facilitate operations.
  • Attend meetings and take notes when requested.
  • Attend shoots as an on-set PA as needed.
  • Prepare speaking materials for directors’ public engagements.
  • For film festivals and screenings, assist with logistical coordination and handle the delivery of film files and related assets.
  • Coordinate with external press teams on logistics of media appearances and interviews.
  • Manage film and company websites and social media pages.
  • Execute invoices; track and log directors’ production expenses.
  • Facilitate travel and transportation bookings for shoots and other business-related travel.
  • Other tasks include submitting our films to awards and festivals, helping to support event planning, tracking press, generating and tracking screener links.
