UI/UX Product Designer

We are building an on-demand marketplace that pays students to create short-form videos for local businesses.

Students earn money, local restaurants receive authentic content and greater visibility, and each video helps raise awareness about hunger. As an official partner of Feed the Children, we are designing social impact directly into the user experience—not treating it as an afterthought.

Our goal is to make the experience as simple and intuitive as a gig-economy app: a business posts a paid opportunity, a student claims it, creates the content, gets paid, and sees the hunger impact connected to their work.

The Role

We are looking for a thoughtful, highly capable UI/UX Designer to help turn EAT’s vision into a clear, engaging, and scalable mobile product.

You will design experiences for two primary users:

  • Students and creators looking for nearby opportunities to earn money
  • Local businesses looking for affordable content, attention, and customer engagement

You will also help us make hunger awareness and measurable impact feel naturally integrated throughout the product.

What You’ll Design

Key product experiences may include:

  • Student and business onboarding
  • Creator profiles and portfolios
  • Nearby opportunity discovery
  • Campaign and job creation
  • Applying for or claiming opportunities
  • Video requirements and creative briefs
  • Content submission and approval
  • Payments and earnings
  • Ratings, reviews, and trust features
  • Hunger-awareness prompts and educational content
  • Personal and business impact dashboards
  • Notifications and repeat-engagement flows
  • Administrative and campaign-management tools

Responsibilities

  • Translate product concepts into user flows, wireframes, prototypes, and polished interfaces
  • Design an intuitive mobile experience for both students and local businesses
  • Simplify the full transaction—from posting an opportunity to completing the content and paying the student
  • Integrate hunger awareness and Feed the Children impact into the experience without making it feel forced
  • Conduct or support user research and usability testing
  • Collaborate closely with the founder, developers, students, businesses, and other stakeholders
  • Identify friction points and recommend product improvements
  • Prepare clear, developer-ready designs and specifications
  • Help define the visual and interaction language of an early-stage company

What We’re Looking For

  • A strong portfolio demonstrating mobile product and UX design
  • Experience designing consumer apps, marketplaces, creator platforms, or gig-economy products
  • Advanced proficiency in Figma or similar
  • Strong understanding of user flows, information architecture, prototyping, and usability
  • Ability to design for multiple user types within the same ecosystem
  • Excellent visual design and attention to detail
  • Ability to turn complex ideas into simple, understandable experiences
  • Comfort working in an early-stage environment where the product will evolve quickly
  • Strong communication skills and the ability to explain the reasoning behind design decisions

Helpful Experience

  • Two-sided marketplaces
  • Gen Z or student-focused products
  • Creator economy or social-media tools
  • Restaurant, hospitality, or local-business technology
  • Payment, earnings, or gig-management experiences
  • Social-impact or nonprofit products
  • Gamification, rewards, or impact-tracking systems

What Success Looks Like

The right designer will help us create an experience where a student can open EAT, find a nearby paid opportunity, understand exactly what to create, submit a video, get paid, and see how that action helped promote hunger awareness—all through a product that feels simple, credible, and rewarding.

At the same time, a local business should be able to quickly launch a campaign, receive authentic student-created content, gain attention, and understand the social impact generated through its participation.
