WAFCC AmeriCorps – Executive Assistant & Organizational Development Coordinator

AmeriCorps VISTA – Healthcare Access, Community Engagement & Organizational Development

Make an impact. Build your skills. Strengthen healthcare access across Wisconsin.

Are you interested in public health, healthcare, nonprofit leadership, communications, data, fundraising, or community engagement? Join the Wisconsin Association of Free & Charitable Clinics (WAFCC) as an AmeriCorps VISTA and help strengthen the systems that support free and charitable clinics across Wisconsin.

This is a unique opportunity to gain hands-on experience in the nonprofit and healthcare sectors while working on projects that have a lasting impact on communities with limited access to healthcare.

About the Position

As a WAFCC AmeriCorps VISTA, you will help develop sustainable systems that strengthen our statewide network of free and charitable clinics. Your work will support membership engagement, communications, digital outreach, data management, fundraising, community partnerships, and organizational development.

You will have the opportunity to work on meaningful projects, collaborate with nonprofit and healthcare professionals, develop professional skills, and create resources that will continue to benefit WAFCC and its member clinics after your service year.

What You’ll Do

Build Stronger Community & Clinic Partnerships

Develop strategies to recruit, retain, and engage WAFCC member clinics.

Support relationships with healthcare organizations, volunteers, community partners, and other stakeholders.

Develop outreach materials and engagement strategies.

Help plan statewide meetings, educational programs, and other WAFCC events.

Collect and share stories that demonstrate the impact of free and charitable clinics.

Strengthen Communications & Digital Outreach

Help develop WAFCC’s communications and digital outreach strategy.

Create social media content, newsletters, website updates, and other communications.

Develop a strategic content calendar.

Design professional, branded materials using Canva and other digital platforms.

Track engagement and recommend ways to increase WAFCC’s reach and visibility.

Develop Data & Organizational Systems

Support WAFCC’s Valuing Services Initiative.

Maintain, organize, and improve Salesforce and other organizational databases.

Help improve data quality, tracking, and reporting processes.

Develop standard operating procedures, training materials, and documentation.

Analyze data to support program planning, evaluation, and organizational decision-making.

Support Fundraising & Grant Development

Research grant opportunities and potential funding partners.

Assist with grant and fundraising research.

Develop fundraising templates, tracking tools, and resources.

Support donor communications and stewardship activities.

Help create sustainable fundraising systems that strengthen WAFCC’s long-term capacity.

Create Systems That Last

One of the most important parts of your VISTA service will be making sure your work continues after your service year.

You will:

Develop a comprehensive VISTA project manual.

Document processes, procedures, and best practices.

Create training and transition materials for staff and future VISTA members.

Develop resources that can be used beyond your service term.

Recommend strategies for continued organizational growth and sustainability.
