(Hybrid / Part-time)

As a Public Affairs Associate you will support and sometimes lead projects across research, media, community relations, and content development. You will be expected to do the following tasks:
- Conduct research and synthesize insights for briefs, memos, and client updates all within a timely manner
- Draft op-eds, press releases, talking points, and stakeholder communications.
- Manage social channels and contribute to content plans.
- Develop brand and campaign materials for JCI and clients.
- Pitch media; build and maintain reporter and editor relationships.
- Designing, writing/producing presentations and reports.
- Communicate with and influence key stakeholders on a range of policy issues depending on the clients needs
- Work with team members on creating new messaging ideas and strategies.
Skills Necessary:
- Excellent writing, editing and content ideation across a variety of communications formats
- Comfortable with pitching op-eds and other media related pieces to publications
- Ability to build and maintain relationships with media, stakeholders, partners, and key allies.
- Experience conducting outreach via phone call or email
- Undergraduate senior or graduate student pursuing Strategic Public Relations, Communication, Public Diplomacy, Public Policy or related fields strongly preferred
Compensation and schedule
• $22 per hour
• 15-20 hours per week, ideally concentrated on the same days and able to come in-person 2-3 days a week (Downtown Santa Monica)
