New Orleans Search, Content, and Email Marketing Strategist

As a New Orleans Search, Content & Email Marketing Strategist, we expect you to produce excellent content marketing work for our New Orleans clients that ranks well on search engines, gets cited by LLMs, and, most importantly, converts. Your content will live on clients’ websites, in email inboxes, in journalists’ articles, and across the rest of the Internet. You work alongside your colleagues and on individual projects while continuing to grow your ability to handle more complex accounts. This position requires strong copywriting skills, SEO and AEO knowledge, and a genuine curiosity about how New Orleans businesses grow online.

You sit above our Coordinators and Associates but below our Directors and Leadership team. You’ll have guidance from the Senior Director of Content while taking ownership of larger accounts and mentoring less experienced members of the team.

60–100% of your accounts will be based in New Orleans, giving you a front-row seat to the city’s business community. The remaining time may include Reddit community work or content marketing for clients located outside New Orleans. You do not have to be born & raised in the city, or living there permanently, but you should be extremely familiar with its culture, community, and language. We won’t ask what high school you went to, but we will ask for your favorite Fest, and which Krewe you want to join.

Job Responsibilities

We expect the job to be around:

• 40% Website Content & Search/LLM Optimization: blog posts, service pages, location pages, FAQs, and similar content optimized for search engines and AI engines
• 25% Email Marketing: newsletter writing, drip funnel setup, and campaign analysis
• 15% Community Content & Link-Building: Reddit copywriting, community management, and citation earning for select accounts
• 10% Client Communication
• 5% Reporting
• 5% Always Optimizing to improve our agency’s processes and results

We focus on ethical, above-the-board content marketing. We believe AI can be used to make our humans more efficient, not replace them. Google, forums, and LLMs end up with the same result: bringing users whichever content they believe will be most engaging. It’s your job to make that content and get it to our New Orleans audiences, and beyond.

This role is strictly normal business hours. While we have physical offices in New Orleans and New York City, employees may work from any state, as long as they follow Eastern or Central time zones.

Who are we looking for?

You must have at least:

• A genuine familiarity with New Orleans and its business community. You don’t need to be a lifelong resident, but you should understand the city well enough to write about it credibly.
• A foundational understanding of SEO and AEO concepts, including keyword research, meta descriptions, and on-site optimization.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to craft engaging content across formats and quickly shift tone for different clients and audiences.
• Experience writing email marketing campaigns, or a strong willingness to learn the platforms quickly.
• A love of Reddit or an openness to learning community management, since some accounts include forum work.

The strongest candidates will have:

• Two to four years of creating content marketing, SEO content, or email marketing in a professional setting for businesses or organizations.
• A portfolio showcasing previous content marketing, copywriting, or email marketing work.
• A past or current job at a marketing agency working across a variety of clients.
• Previous experience communicating about marketing work with clients or stakeholders.
• A degree in English, marketing, advertising, public relations, communications, or a related field.
• Experience using SEO tools, particularly SEMrush or Google Search Console.
• Familiarity with analytics tools including Google Analytics 4 and Looker Studio.
• Experience with or curiosity about AEO tools like Profound or Otterly.AI.
• Experience posting on Reddit, or knowledge of the platform’s intricacies beyond posting and upvoting.
