Digital Marketing & Content Strategy Intern

Internship Overview

Seeking a creative, self-motivated college student interested in digital marketing, social media, content creation and entrepreneurship to work directly with a therapist, author, educator and entrepreneur to help build and grow an emerging personal and professional brand.

I am a therapist in private practice who is also preparing to seek representation for a memoir and developing educational content based on my professional experience and existing curriculum.

This is a hands-on opportunity to help shape a digital presence from the ground up while gaining real-world experience in audience development, content strategy and the creation of digital educational products.

The intern will work with me on two primary initiatives:

1. Author & Audience Platform Development
Help develop an authentic online presence and engaged audience around my writing, ideas and work, including preparation for querying literary agents and the eventual publication of a memoir.

2. Digital Content & Product Development
Help explore ways to transform existing curriculum, teaching materials, professional knowledge and other content into online courses, workshops, resources and other digital offerings.

The larger goal is to create a cohesive digital brand and sustainable strategy for sharing my writing, ideas and educational work with a broader audience.

Responsibilities May Include:

  • Develop a social media and audience-growth strategy
  • Identify target audiences and the most appropriate social platforms
  • Create and maintain a content calendar
  • Turn existing stories, ideas, videos and educational material into engaging social media content
  • Assist with short-form video/reels and Canva graphics
  • Help develop and grow an email subscriber list
  • Research comparable authors, educators and creators
  • Track engagement and audience-growth metrics
  • Help organize existing educational content for potential online courses, workshops and digital resources
  • Assist with course materials, worksheets, videos and other digital assets
  • Research online course platforms and best practices
  • Develop repeatable content and marketing systems that can continue after the internship

    Ideal Candidate

A student studying Marketing, Advertising, PR, Communications, Media, Digital Strategy or a related field who:

  • Enjoys social media and digital storytelling
  • Is creative and full of ideas
  • Has strong writing and communication skills
  • Is comfortable with Instagram and/or other social platforms
  • Has familiarity with Canva and short-form video, or is eager to learn
  • Is organized and able to work independently
  • Is interested in books, personal development, entrepreneurship and/or online education

What You'll Gain:

This is designed to be a true portfolio-building experience. You will have the opportunity to help develop a brand from an early stage and gain practical experience in social strategy, content creation, audience development, email marketing, analytics, brand positioning and digital product development.

You'll receive direct mentoring, regular strategy meetings, feedback and considerable opportunity to contribute your own ideas and recommendations.

Schedule & Location:

Schedule: Approximately 5–10 hours per week for 10–12 weeks; flexible scheduling.

Location: Primarily remote, with optional in-person meetings in the Boulder/Denver area.

Compensation/Credit: Academic credit may be available depending on university/program requirements. Compensation details will be discussed with selected candidates.
