Sports Photographer and Sales Representative
Traveling Weekend Sports Photography and Sales Specialist
Picture Pros Photography is hiring energetic, dependable college students and other applicants to join our Southern California travel team based around our Oceanside, CA hub.
We photograph athletes at youth sporting events throughout Southern California, across California, and in surrounding western states including Arizona, Nevada, and Utah.
The majority of opportunities for this team are expected to be in Southern California. However, this is a traveling position, and applicants must be comfortable with overnight travel and multi-day event assignments when scheduled.
We photograph youth athletes, produce professional sports photo products, and sell directly to families at the event.
This opportunity combines:
• Photography
• Sales
• Travel
• Customer service
• Teamwork
• Event operations
It is a strong fit for someone who wants more than a traditional campus or weekend job, enjoys working around sports, is comfortable speaking with people, and wants an opportunity where performance matters.
Professional photography or sales experience is helpful, but it is not required. Role-specific onboarding and event standards are provided.
Please read the complete schedule, travel, work environment, and compensation information before applying.
WHY PEOPLE ENJOY THIS OPPORTUNITY
• Travel to youth sporting events throughout Southern California and surrounding states
• Build hands-on photography experience
• Develop real sales and customer communication skills
• Work alongside an energetic event team
• Gain experience in event operations and leadership
• Increase earning potential through strong performance
• Opportunities to grow into event leadership and management
• Most work is concentrated around event weekends instead of traditional weekday shifts
THE SCHEDULE AND TRAVEL COMMITMENT
This is a traveling weekend opportunity. It is not a Saturday-only photography job.
For our Southern California team, Friday morning is the primary travel and departure time.
Most traveling assignments begin from the Oceanside, CA hub.
A typical event weekend may look like:
• Friday morning: Meet at the Oceanside, CA hub, prepare equipment and supplies, and depart for the event
• Friday: Travel, event preparation, setup, photography, or opening games depending on the tournament schedule
• Saturday: Primary photography and production day
• Sunday: Primary distribution and sales day, followed by return travel
Most standard travel assignments require being away from home for approximately three days.
Applicants should have a school, work, and personal schedule that allows them to depart from Oceanside on Friday mornings for many event opportunities.
Some events may require an earlier departure depending on the destination and tournament schedule.
Occasional assignments may involve:
• Thursday afternoon or evening departure
• Wednesday departure for longer-distance events
• Very early Friday morning departures
• Sunday night or Monday returns
• Four- to five-day assignments
• Travel throughout California
• Travel to Arizona, Nevada, Utah, or other surrounding states
• Travel by company-coordinated vehicle, rental vehicle, or airline
The majority of assignments for the Southern California team are expected to be in Southern California, but applicants must be open to overnight travel when assignments require it.
Picture Pros does not expect students to skip required classes or academic obligations.
This opportunity is best suited for applicants whose existing school or work schedule already allows regular Friday-morning travel and some flexibility for occasional earlier departures.
Applicants must be comfortable being away from home for multiple days when accepting a traveling assignment.
WHAT YOU WILL DO
Every event requires teamwork.
Responsibilities may include:

• Helping families complete their orders
• Actively participating in event sales
• Setting up and breaking down event work areas
• Loading, organizing, and protecting equipment and supplies
• Completing accepted event responsibilities
• Representing Picture Pros professionally throughout the assignment
This is not a position where you only take photographs.
Team members contribute to photography, sales, customer engagement, production, organization, setup, and overall event execution.
THE WORK ENVIRONMENT
Tournament weekends are active, fast-paced, and sometimes physically demanding.
You should be prepared for:
• Early mornings
• Long drives and travel days

• Adjusting when tournament schedules change
• Staying productive and professional when tired

Some parts of an event are exciting and fast-moving. Other parts require patience, consistency, attention to detail, and the ability to remain productive throughout a long weekend.

Successful photographers are able to:
• Communicate confidently with coaches and athletes

• Apply Picture Pros posing and composition standards
• Capture sharp and properly framed images
• Follow required image and upload specifications
• Protect company or personal photography equipment
• Receive feedback and make corrections quickly
Owning a DSLR or mirrorless camera is helpful.
Equipment requirements vary by assignment and will be discussed during the hiring process.
SALES AND CUSTOMER INTERACTION
Sales are a core part of this opportunity.
Sunday is normally the primary distribution and sales day.
Team members interact directly with parents and families, explain the products, answer questions, and assist customers with placing orders.
You do not need previous sales experience, but you must be willing to:
• Approach customers rather than waiting for them to approach you
• Start conversations with parents and team representatives
• Clearly explain the product and ordering process
• Ask customers for the sale
• Handle rejection professionally
• Remain energetic throughout the event
• Accurately record customer transactions
• Use required sales and transaction systems
• Receive coaching on communication and performance
Someone who only wants to take photographs and is unwilling to participate in sales will not be successful in this role.
COMPENSATION
Picture Pros offers performance-based compensation with uncapped earning potential.
This opportunity is currently structured as a 1099 independent contractor arrangement and is not an hourly employee position.
Compensation is primarily based on:
• Photography production
• Product distribution
• Sales performance
• Assigned event responsibilities
Depending on the assignment and applicable company policies, contractors may also be eligible for an event protection floor.
Actual earnings vary based on event size, responsibilities, production, sales results, and individual performance.
Complete compensation details, commission structure, payment procedures, event protection policies, and performance expectations are reviewed with qualified candidates before they accept their first event assignment.
TRAVEL ARRANGEMENTS
The primary hub for the Southern California team is the Oceanside, CA hub.
For qualifying travel assignments, Picture Pros coordinates the necessary event travel arrangements.
Depending on the event, this may include:
• Hotel accommodations
• Company-coordinated transportation
• Rental vehicles
• Airline travel
• Transportation between the hotel and tournament
• Photography and production equipment
Team members are generally responsible for getting themselves to the Oceanside, CA hub or another designated departure location communicated for the assignment.
Friday morning is the standard departure time for most Oceanside-based assignments.
Some events require an earlier departure based on travel distance or tournament scheduling.
Most assignments are expected to occur throughout Southern California, but opportunities may also involve other parts of California and surrounding states including Arizona, Nevada, and Utah.
Food and personal expenses are normally the contractor’s responsibility unless different arrangements are communicated for a specific assignment.
Exact travel information is provided before each accepted event.
DRIVING AND TRANSPORTATION REQUIREMENTS
Because this opportunity may involve work-related travel and driving responsibilities, applicants must:
• Be at least 18 years old
• Possess a current valid driver’s license
• Be legally permitted to drive for work-related travel
• Have reliable transportation to reach the Oceanside, CA hub or assigned meeting location
• Be comfortable participating in multi-day travel assignments
• Maintain reliable communication regarding transportation and travel availability
Picture Pros may coordinate rental or company transportation depending on the assignment.
AVAILABILITY AND EVENT OPPORTUNITIES
Events take place throughout the year, with increased opportunities during busy tournament seasons.
Event opportunities are based on factors such as:
• Submitted availability
• Event location and size
• Photography and sales needs
• Training and onboarding completion
• Reliability and communication
• Previous event performance
• Transportation and equipment needs
• Crew size and leadership needs
Being marked available does not guarantee an event opportunity.
Once you accept an event, you are expected to complete the agreed assignment and communicate immediately if a legitimate emergency occurs.
Applicants must keep their availability accurate and review their school, work, personal, and transportation commitments before accepting an event.
WHO WE ARE LOOKING FOR
The strongest applicants are:
