The Georgia Symphony Orchestra is one of the Southeast's leading regional performing arts organizations, inspiring and enriching our community through exceptional musical performances, education, and outreach. Serving more than 7,500 patrons annually, the GSO includes a full symphony orchestra, chorus, jazz ensemble, and the nationally recognized Georgia Youth Symphony Orchestra. The Job

The Georgia Symphony Orchestra is seeking a creative, organized, and enthusiastic Marketing and Development Intern to assist with communications, digital marketing, donor development and audience engagement. This internship provides hands-on experience in nonprofit arts marketing, offering opportunities to contribute to email marketing, social media, graphic design, donor communications, and event promotion. The intern will work closely with the Executive Director and staff on projects that directly support one of Georgia's leading regional arts organizations.


 

Title: Marketing & Development Intern

Reports to: Executive Director

Hours: 10–15 hours per week (flexible, may include occasional events)


 

Key Responsibilities

  • Assist in the creation of email marketing campaigns
  • Draft copy for newsletters, blogs, and website updates
  • Maintain community event calendars and online listings
  • Create organic social media posts and graphics
  • Research social media trends and recommend content ideas
  • Assist with donor acknowledgments and stewardship communications
  • Help prepare materials for fundraising campaigns
  • Provide marketing support before and during concerts and special events
  • Support volunteer check-in or patron engagement activities as needed


 

Qualifications

  • Current undergraduate student majoring in Marketing, Communications, Public Relations, Graphic Design, Arts Administration, or a related field
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail
  • Comfortable managing multiple projects and deadlines
  • Interest in nonprofit arts organizations and community engagement
  • Creative thinker with a willingness to learn
  • Experience with the following platforms: Canva, Facebook, TikTok, Instagram, LinkedIn, Google Workspace and MailChimp


 

Value of the Position

This is an unpaid position. By the end of the internship, students will have developed a professional portfolio that may include email campaigns, social media content, graphic design pieces, event marketing materials, and donor communications suitable for showcasing to future employers.

Logistics
