About Us
Mecha Media is a media production company and the parent company of SlapStik Comedy Entertainment, a growing comedy media and entertainment platform. SlapStik Comedy produces a print and digital magazine, podcasts, video content, live comedy events, and other original entertainment projects.
Our long-term goal is to expand into a nationally recognized all-comedy media network while creating opportunities for comedians, college students, creatives, and media professionals.
Position Overview
We are seeking organized, resourceful, and detail-oriented Grant Research & Development Interns to help identify funding opportunities and support the preparation of grant applications.
This position is ideal for students interested in grant writing, nonprofit development, business development, professional writing, public administration, communications, media, or entrepreneurship.
The intern will work closely with the Founder and Business Development Team to research grants that support media production, arts and entertainment, workforce development, entrepreneurship, minority-owned businesses, women-owned businesses, internships, job creation, and community programming.
Responsibilities
Research local, state, federal, corporate, foundation, and private grant opportunities.
Identify grants that align with Mecha Media and SlapStik Comedy’s programs and business goals.
Review eligibility requirements, deadlines, award amounts, and required documentation.
Maintain an organized grant calendar and application-tracking system.
Prepare summaries and recommendations for qualified grant opportunities.
Assist with drafting grant applications, letters of intent, program descriptions, and supporting materials.
Help gather company information, statistics, budgets, and documents needed for applications.
Track application progress, upcoming deadlines, and follow-up requirements.
Participate in weekly team meetings and provide progress updates.
Maintain confidentiality when working with company and financial information.
Qualifications
Strong research, writing, proofreading, and organizational skills.
Ability to review detailed instructions and identify important requirements.
Comfortable working independently and meeting deadlines.
Professional communication skills.
Experience with Microsoft Office, Google Workspace, or similar platforms.
Interest in grants, media, entertainment, entrepreneurship, nonprofit development, or business growth.
Grant-writing experience is helpful but not required.
Weekly Commitment
Interns must be available for:
Weekly company meeting on Sundays from 12:00–12:30 p.m. Eastern Time
Business Development Team breakout meeting on Sundays from 2:30–3:00 p.m. Eastern Time
Approximately nine additional hours of independent work throughout the week
