Job Purpose

The School of Engineering, Computing, and Mathematics’ Program and Communications Manager is a high-impact leadership role responsible and accountable for the strategic direction and execution of internal and external programming and communications. Serving as a vital liaison between the School and key stakeholders including Enrollment Management, Alumni Affairs, Faculty, and External Corporate Partners and Contractors. This position supports enrollment and retention efforts through data-driven marketing, builds robust relationships, and fosters a vibrant community for students and alumni.

Minimum Requirements

Bachelor’s degree in Communications, Marketing, Public Relations, or a related field and minimum 5 years of experience in program management or strategic communications are required. Master’s degree and experience in a higher education setting, specifically within STEM or recruitment-focused departments is preferred. Candidates with an equivalent combination of experience and/or education are encouraged to apply.

Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

Required:

  • Demonstrated ability to build and maintain external partnerships with corporate and community stakeholders.
  • Strong technical proficiency in data analysis and reporting to drive strategic decision-making.
  • Working knowledge of digital marketing tools and content management systems (CMS).


Preferred:

  • Advanced knowledge of digital marketing tools and content management systems (CMS).
  • Established professional network within the Charleston/Lowcountry K-12 or corporate landscape.
  • Background in creating and scaling mentorship or immersion programs for students and alumni.

  • Design and manage high-impact initiatives including Industry, Student Ambassador, and Alumni Mentoring programming.
  • Develop School-specific programming tailored for K-12 students, faculty, alumni, and counselors.
  • Create and maintain strategic external relationships with high schools, school districts, and community organizations in the Lowcountry and beyond.
  • Collaborate with faculty and staff to create STEM experiences, such as demonstrations and summer camps.
