Web Design & Brand Experience Intern

Organizations: Big Day Productions, Go Local Productions, and Go Local FXBG
Location: Remote, with optional community events in the Fredericksburg area
Schedule: 10 hours per week
Compensation: Unpaid; must be completed for academic or approved program credit

About the Internship

We are seeking a creative and detail-oriented college student or recent college graduate interested in web design, user experience, and digital content.

The intern will support real website projects for a nonprofit, event-production company, and community-focused marketing organization. A major focus may include developing Go Local FXBG’s Community Hub, an online resource designed to connect residents with nonprofit services, local events, and community information throughout Fredericksburg, Stafford, and Spotsylvania.

The position is primarily remote, with optional opportunities to attend local community events.

Projects May Include

  • Community Hub development
  • Website design and page updates
  • Landing page creation
  • Nonprofit and resource directory organization
  • Website accessibility improvements
  • Basic search engine optimization
  • User experience improvements
  • Website testing and quality checks
  • Content migration and organization
  • Updating images, links, forms, and written content
  • Collecting and reviewing user feedback

Qualifications

Applicants must:

  • Be a current college student or recent college graduate
  • Be eligible to receive academic or approved program credit
  • Be available for 10 hours per week
  • Have reliable access to a computer and internet
  • Be organized, dependable, and able to meet deadlines
  • Be comfortable learning and working independently in a remote environment

Experience with WordPress, Brilliant Directories, website builders, HTML/CSS, SEO, accessibility, UX/UI, or graphic design is helpful but not required.

Ideal majors include Web Design, Information Systems, UX/UI Design, Computer Information Systems, Digital Media, Graphic Design, or a related field.
