Position Summary

The Springfield Family Supports Program Coordinator leads the implementation of coalition initiatives that strengthen family support systems, improve access to community resources, and promote family well-being. Working closely with the Chief of Family Services, the Coordinator engages parents, community partners, and service providers to advance collaborative, family-centered strategies and ensure that parent voices inform program planning and decision-making.

Coalition Development and Program Coordination

  • Facilitate the Coalition's governance, strategic planning, and annual action planning.
  • Recruit, engage, and retain parents, caregivers, service providers, and community partners.
  • Coordinate Coalition meetings, workgroups, leadership development activities, and community events.
  • Develop collaborative strategies that strengthen referrals, care coordination, and family support systems.
  • Manage the Coalition budget in partnership with the Chief of Family and Child Services. 

Data Collection, Evaluation, and Access to Services

  • Develop and maintain data collection and evaluation systems to support continuous improvement and data-informed decision-making.
  • Analyze program data, identify service gaps, and prepare reports for funders, stakeholders, and community partners.
  • Strengthen collaboration with DCF, Family-Based Services Networks, and other partners through data sharing and coordinated planning. 

Advocacy and Community Engagement

  • Develop and implement community engagement and communications strategies that increase Coalition participation and awareness.
  • Coordinate advocacy events, public forums, and stakeholder meetings that promote family-centered policies and practices.
  • Ensure parent and caregiver voices inform Coalition planning, decision-making, and advocacy efforts. 

Resource Development and Sustainability

  • Identify funding opportunities and assist with grant writing and proposal development.
  • Cultivate partnerships with foundations, community organizations, and public agencies.
  • Support fundraising and sustainability initiatives that advance Coalition priorities. 

 

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Social Work, Public Administration, Human Services, Community Development, Community Organizing, or a related field, or equivalent. 
  • Minimum of three years of experience in community engagement, family support services, coalition building, advocacy, or program coordination. 
  • Knowledge of family support systems and the needs of DCF-involved families. 
  • Experience facilitating meetings, trainings, or community engagement activities. 
  • Strong organizational, project management, and communication skills. 
  • Experience working collaboratively across multiple organizations and stakeholder groups. 
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and project management skills. 
  • Valid driver's license and access to a reliable, insured vehicle.
  • Commitment to diversity, equity, inclusion, and family-centered practices.

 

Preferred Qualifications

  • Master's degree in Social Work, Public Administration, Community Development, or a related field. 
  • Multilingual proficiency. 
  • Experience with grassroots organizing and community mobilization. 
  • Grant writing and resource development experience. 
  • Experience developing and supporting advisory groups, councils, or coalitions. 
  • Experience working within systems-based collaborative initiatives involving multiple agencies and stakeholders.

Work Environment & Physical Requirements

  • Ability to travel throughout the Springfield area and surrounding communities. 
  • Ability to move tables, chairs, and presentation materials for meetings and events. 
  • Ability to lift and carry boxes, supplies, and program materials. 
  • Ability to attend evening and occasional weekend meetings or events as required.
