Graphic Designer / Illustrator (Freelance Contract)

House of Harmony is seeking a Graphic Designer with strong illustration skills to create original artwork for one of New Orleans' most unique arts events: Human Horse Races.

Human Horse Races is an immersive New Orleans arts event with a whimsical, satirical world of anthropomorphic horse characters, vintage carnival aesthetics, and theatrical storytelling. We're looking for someone excited to help build that visual universe (more info at www.humanhorseraces.com).

Please note: This is not a traditional fine art position. We are looking for a graphic designer who specializes in illustration and understands branding, composition, and creating artwork that functions within a visual identity system.

Project

We are looking to commission five original digital illustrations depicting our Human Horse Race characters competing in this year's event.

The illustration style should be inspired by vintage editorial artwork, antique circus graphics, anthropomorphic animal illustrations, Victorian storybooks, and old engraved prints. (Reference images will be provided.)

This artwork will become part of the Human Horse Races brand and may be used across posters, merchandise, social media, and promotional materials.

Requirements

• Strong digital illustration skills
• Graphic Design background preferred
• Ability to emulate an established visual style
• Experience designing for branding and marketing materials
• Ability to deliver print-ready, high-resolution artwork
• Comfortable receiving creative direction and revisions
• Portfolio demonstrating illustration work is required

Compensation

• $50 per completed illustration
• Initial commission is for 5 illustrations
• Designers whose style is the right fit may be commissioned for ongoing work throughout the year.
