Job Title: Software Development Intern – Lumen Prototype (Unpaid)
Company: Prodia Technologies
Location: Miami, FL (Remote, with optional in-person meetings at Converge Miami)
Type: Unpaid Internship, Part-Time (15–20 hrs/week)
Duration: 16 weeks (August 17, 2026 – December 6, 2026)
About Prodia Technologies
Prodia Technologies is a Miami-based health-tech startup developing wearable diagnostic devices that use biosensor technology to enable on-demand biomarker detection. We're a small, fast-moving team building real hardware-software systems from the ground up, and this internship offers direct exposure to a full product development cycle in a venture-backed startup environment.
About the Role
We're looking for a Software Development Intern to help design, build, and complete the end-to-end Lumen prototype — the software backbone connecting our biosensor hardware to a functional data pipeline and mobile experience. You'll work closely with our CEO and technical team, contributing to real, shippable features rather than busywork.
Responsibilities
-
Mobile Application Development
- Build and refine the Lumen dashboard UI
- Ensure usability and stability of the app during live hardware testing
-
Cloud Infrastructure & Data Pipeline Integration
- Integrate the Lumen app with Firebase for secure data ingestion, storage, and retrieval
- Enable real-time or near real-time data transfer from hardware to Firebase via the mobile app
- Validate end-to-end data integrity from sensor signal to cloud-stored dataset
-
Data Processing, Analytics & AI Features
- Implement core data processing and analytical functions for biomarker/protein-related data
- Organize and structure datasets to support longitudinal analysis and reporting
- Contribute to AI-driven analysis features aimed at reducing time and cost for protein analysis
- Support early automated reporting/insight-generation workflows as time allows
-
Documentation & Reporting
- Maintain clear documentation of software architecture, data flows, and changes
- Communicate progress, risks, and technical findings regularly
- Deliver a final technical handoff covering system architecture, limitations, and recommended next steps
What You'll Deliver by the End of the Internship
- A functional mobile application connected to Firebase
- Data pipelines capable of gathering, organizing, analyzing, and reporting biomarker data
- Foundational AI-driven features demonstrating reduced time/cost for analysis
Minimum Requirements
- Currently enrolled in an undergraduate or graduate program in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field
- Experience with mobile app development (React Native, Swift, Kotlin, or Flutter preferred)
- Familiarity with Firebase or similar cloud/backend platforms (data storage, real-time databases, authentication)
- Basic understanding of data processing/analytics (Python or JavaScript experience a plus)
- Strong communication skills and ability to work independently in a remote, fast-paced startup setting
- Comfortable with tools like Microsoft Teams, Monday.com, and WhatsApp for team communication
Nice to Have
- Exposure to AI/ML concepts or libraries
- Interest in health tech, biosensors, or hardware-software integration
- Prior startup or project-based team experience
Compensation
This is an unpaid internship designed to provide hands-on industry experience in health-tech software development. Academic credit or capstone eligibility may be available — students are responsible for coordinating with their institution, and Prodia will support this by providing any required forms or evaluations.
Schedule
15–20 hours/week, primarily remote, with optional in-person meetings at Converge Miami scheduled with advance notice.
