Job Description
Extreme Kayak Fishing, Inc., through EK Youth Fishing, is seeking enthusiastic college students to assist with our year-round youth fishing, kayaking, outdoor education, conservation, and community programs throughout South Florida.
This hands-on internship is ideal for students interested in education, recreation, environmental science, marine biology, psychology, child development, sports management, marketing, event planning, or nonprofit and business operations.
Interns will work alongside our owners and experienced coaches while helping children ages 6–16 build fishing skills, confidence, teamwork, leadership, and a deeper appreciation for the outdoors.
Responsibilities
- Assist coaches during youth fishing, kayaking, and outdoor education programs
- Help supervise and mentor children in a positive and encouraging environment
- Support fishing instruction, equipment setup, bait preparation, and cleanup
- Assist with safety checks, attendance, organization, and participant transitions
- Help teach fish identification, conservation, environmental stewardship, and responsible fishing practices
- Support homeschool programs, Adventure Series trips, youth tournaments, and community events
- Assist with event setup, registration, awards, sponsor activities, and program logistics
- Capture photos and videos for program documentation and social media when needed
- Help create social media content, flyers, emails, or promotional materials based on the intern’s area of interest
- Represent EK Youth Fishing professionally when interacting with children, families, sponsors, and community partners
Qualifications
- Currently enrolled in a college, university, or technical program
- Dependable, responsible, punctual, and comfortable working outdoors
- Enjoys working with children and families
- Strong communication and teamwork skills
- Willingness to learn fishing, kayaking, and outdoor safety procedures
- Able to work in warm weather and outdoor environments
- Fishing or kayaking experience is helpful but not required
- Photography, videography, marketing, education, coaching, or event experience is a plus

Location and Schedule
Programs primarily take place at Tradewinds Park in Coconut Creek, with additional events and Adventure Series locations throughout South Florida.
Scheduling is flexible and may include weekday homeschool programs, select weekends, tournaments, and special events. Interns may participate based on their availability and academic requirements.

Extreme Kayak Fishing, Inc. is the parent organization of EK Youth Fishing, a year-round outdoor education program serving homeschool and traditional-school families throughout South Florida. Our programs combine fishing, kayaking, conservation, leadership, confidence building, environmental education, and hands-on learning.
We are also the organizers of the Extreme Kayak Fishing Summer Slam, Sailfish Smackdown, Exotic Bass Roundup, and EK Youth Fishing tournament divisions.
