Position Summary

Club Nova seeks a creative, relationship-centered, and mission-driven Social Practitioner: Communication/Development Coordinator to lead communications development efforts while actively engaging members in meaningful daily work. This unique role combines marketing, storytelling, community engagement, social media management, fundraising support, and direct psychosocial rehabilitation practice.

Working within the Clubhouse Model, the Communications/Development and Social Practitioner will collaborate with members to create content, strengthen community partnerships, promote Club Nova's mission, and support member participation in communications and resource development activities. The position emphasizes recovery-oriented practice, through work, relationship member empowerment, and meaningful relationships.

Essential Responsibilities

Communications and Marketing

• Develop and implement Club Nova's communications strategy.
• Create, schedule, and manage content across social media platforms.
• Maintain and update website content.
• Design donor newsletters, brochures, annual reports, flyers, signage, and promotional materials.
• Capture and edit photographs and videos highlighting member achievements and Club Nova activities.
• Create graphics and visual content for digital and print communications.
• Draft media releases, talking points, speeches, presentations, and community outreach materials.
• Monitor communication metrics and analyze effectiveness of campaigns.

Development and Community Engagement

• Assist with grant research and grant applications, corporate giving 
• Support fundraising campaigns and donor stewardship activities.
• Clean and maintain donor databases (Little Green Light) and communication records.
• Cultivate relationships with community organizations, businesses, volunteers, and supporters.
• Develops ways to engage members' voices for sharing with donors and stakeholders.
• Develop and maintain advocacy skills for members, including public speaking, tours, social media, and written and verbal communication.

Social Practice and Member Engagement

• Work side-by-side with members in the Communications and Development Unit.
• Engage members in meaningful work opportunities that build confidence, communication skills, and vocational readiness.
• Support members' personal, social, educational, and employment goals.
• Facilitate member participation in outreach, public speaking, and community events.
• Foster an inclusive, recovery-oriented environment that promotes dignity, choice, and empowerment.
• Participate in unit operations and Clubhouse activities consistent with Clubhouse International standards.
• Collaborate with staff to support member engagement and overall program goals.
• Complete notes for the previous weeks, sign and turn into the Associate Director by the end of the business day.
• Ensure content reflects goals and interventions from Person-Centered Plan (PCP's).
• Provide outreach to members in their absence and document contacts.
• Update Person-Centered Plan (PCP) at least every 6 months, more frequently as members' changing needs//functioning may dictate a New Plan (PCP)is completed annually.

Conduct

• Follow Code of Conduct established in Club Nova Policies and Procedures.
• Represents Club Nova in a positive professional manner at all times.
• Demonstrate adherences to Club Nova philosophy and applicable federal, state, and local guidelines in carrying out job duties.
• Use professionalism when working with other mental health professionals and any person involved in Club Nova.
• Communication and professional behavior reflect respect for the members and a sincere belief that all members have emotional strength and coping skills to be built upon in service delivery.

Administrative and Team Responsibilities

• Maintain appropriate documentation and records.
• Participate in staff meetings, training, and professional development.
• Assist with special projects and organizational initiatives as needed.
• Contribute to a positive, collaborative team culture.

Minimum Qualifications

Required

• Bachelor's degree in Communications, Marketing, Public Relations, Social Work, Human Services, Psychology, Rehabilitation, or a related field.
• Strong written, verbal, and visual communication skills.
• Experience creating content for multiple audiences and platforms.
• Ability to independently create and edit basic photo and video content.
• Demonstrated ability to build positive relationships with diverse individuals.
• Experience working or volunteering with people with disabilities, mental health conditions, or other vulnerable populations.
• Strong organizational skills and ability to manage multiple projects.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office and common social media platforms.
• Commitment to recovery-oriented and person-centered practices.
• Diplomacy on all situations. 

Preferred

• Experience working with adults living with serious mental illness.
• Experience in nonprofit communications, fundraising, or development.
• Knowledge of the Clubhouse Model or psychosocial rehabilitation.
• Experience with graphic design, website management, and donor management systems.
• Grant writing or fundraising experience.

Training and Professional Development

The successful candidate will receive paid training in the internationally recognized Clubhouse Model, an evidence-based approach used by hundreds of organizations worldwide to support adults living with serious mental illness. Ongoing professional development opportunities will be provided in communications, psychosocial rehabilitation, and community engagement

Work Schedule

This is a full-time, on-site position in Carrboro, North Carolina. Occasional evening, weekend, and holiday work is required to support events, outreach, and member activities. Overnight travel is required for Clubhouse training, professional development

Salary and Benefits

Salary Range: $42,000-$52,000 annually (depending on qualifications and experience)
