Product Manager Intern

 About the Role 

EMI Advisors is seeking a Product Manager Intern currently pursuing a Master's degree to support the development of innovative technology, analytics, and AI-driven solutions for government and commercial clients. Working alongside software developers, data scientists, designers, analysts, and client stakeholders, you will help define product requirements, prioritize features, and support the delivery of user-centered digital solutions. 

This internship provides hands-on experience across the product development lifecycle, including user research, requirements gathering, product planning, Agile development, testing, and product delivery. 

Key Responsibilities 

  • Support product managers in planning, prioritizing, and executing product initiatives.  
  • Assist in gathering, documenting, and analyzing business, client, and user requirements.  
  • Conduct user research, stakeholder interviews, workshops, and product discovery sessions.  
  • Perform market, industry, and competitive research to inform product decisions.  
  • Create and maintain user stories, acceptance criteria, process flows, product roadmaps, and functional specifications.  
  • Identify opportunities to improve and automate business processes and workflows through technology, AI, and low-code/no-code solutions.  
  • Collaborate with technical teams to define requirements for workflow automation, system integrations, and digital transformation initiatives.  
  • Collaborate with software developers, UI/UX designers, data scientists, and business stakeholders throughout the product development lifecycle.  
  • Participate in sprint planning, backlog refinement, sprint reviews, and product demonstrations.  
  • Assist with product testing, quality assurance, and user acceptance testing (UAT).  
  • Analyze user feedback, product performance, and business needs to recommend product improvements.  
  • Track product enhancements, defects, and feature requests using Agile project management tools.  
  • Support the evaluation and implementation of automation tools and AI-enabled solutions to improve operational efficiency and user experience.  
  • Prepare presentations, reports, release notes, and product documentation for internal and client stakeholders.  
  • Stay informed on emerging technologies, artificial intelligence, automation, healthcare technology, and digital transformation trends. 

Job Requirements 

Required Qualifications 

  • Currently pursuing a Master's degree in Business Administration (MBA), Product Management, Engineering Management, Information Systems, Management Information Systems (MIS), Computer Science, Health Informatics, Human-Computer Interaction, Public Health, or a related field.  
  • 1-2 years of experience through internships, research, academic projects, leadership roles, or product-focused coursework.  
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and organizational skills.  
  • Excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills.  
  • Ability to gather, synthesize, and communicate complex business and technical requirements.  
  • Familiarity with Agile product development methodologies through coursework, projects, or internships.  
  • Experience using Microsoft Office or Google Workspace.  
  • Ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional technical and business teams.  
  • Passion for technology, innovation, digital transformation, and building user-centered products.  
  • U.S. Citizenship or the ability to obtain a U.S. security clearance. 

Preferred Qualifications 

  • Experience using Agile product management tools such as Jira, Azure DevOps, Trello, Asana, or similar platforms.  
  • Familiarity with product discovery, user research, design thinking, or customer journey mapping.  
  • Experience with Figma, Miro, Lucidchart, or similar collaboration and prototyping tools.  
  • Exposure to software development lifecycle (SDLC) and Agile delivery processes.  
  • Familiarity with data analytics tools such as Power BI, Tableau, SQL, or Excel.  
  • Experience with AI, machine learning, healthcare technology, cloud computing, or enterprise software through coursework or projects.  
  • Interest in government consulting, analytics, digital health, or public sector technology solutions.  
  • Coursework or certifications related to Agile, Scrum, Product Management, or Design Thinking are a plus.
