Digital Communications Specialist Intern
Job Summary
This internship provides hands-on experience in digital communications, marketing, and public engagement within the Office of the City Commissioners. Under close supervision, the intern will assist with creating digital content, managing social media, supporting community outreach, and promoting City programs while developing professional communication skills.
Examples of Work Performed
- Assist with creating and scheduling social media content.
- Capture photos and videos at City meetings and community events.
- Draft website updates, newsletters, and digital communications.
- Design basic graphics and promotional materials.
- Research social media trends and engagement strategies.
- Assist with website updates and content management.
- Monitor social media engagement and compile basic analytics.
- Support community outreach and public information efforts.
- Perform other related duties as assigned.
Minimum Requirements
- Current enrollment in or recent graduation from an accredited college or university in Communications, Marketing, Journalism, Public Relations, Digital Media, Graphic Design, Political Science, Public Administration, or a related field.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Familiarity with major social media platforms.
- Basic knowledge of Canva, Adobe Creative Suite, or similar software preferred.
- Valid Florida Driver's License may be required depending on assignment.
