Communications Intern
Job Summary:
The Institute for Climate and Sustainable Growth is looking for a student intern with an interest in communications, public relations, journalism, and/or marketing to help with daily tasks and special projects. There are opportunities for the intern to play a key role in building the social media and outreach strategy targeted at reaching UChicago undergraduate and graduate students, as well as potential students. The communications internship is a paid, part-time opportunity with in-office responsibilities.
Responsibilities:
- Help develop and assist in the social media and outreach strategy around student engagement;
- Assist team in digital outreach, including website updates and email newsletters;
- Assist in social media campaign drafting and scheduling;
- Help monitor internal and external climate related news, events, and opportunities;
- Assist in stakeholder and media list building and updating;
- Track media and compile a twice weekly news report to affiliated faculty;
- Track analytics across all digital platforms (social media, newsletter, and website);
- Assist in operations-related items such as coordinating print jobs and in-office marketing materials;
- Miscellaneous tasks as needed.
Experience:
- 1-2 years of experience (including internships) working in a communications capacity;
- Working knowledge of website content management systems and e-mail marketing systems;
- Experience engaging on social media in a professional capacity;
- Experience tracking analytics on various platforms;
- Design experience and working knowledge of platforms such as Canva and Adobe InDesign/Illustrator a plus;
- Interest in climate and energy is highly desired.
Requirements: Applicants must be able to commit for at least 6 hours per week for the full academic year, including late night or early morning availability two days per week.
