We are seeking a detail-oriented Digital Accessibility Tester with strong experience in the manual testing of complex digital assets. These assets include websites, applications, documents, enterprise platforms, mobile apps, chatbots, digital forms, and authenticated user systems.
In this role, you will develop test cases, manually test assets, identify accessibility issues, document solutions, and guide cross-functional teams (including web administrators, content developers, and platform engineers) in remediating problems. Your work will ensure enterprise-wide compliance with current and future accessibility standards as documented in WCAG, ADA, and Section 508.
Key Responsibilities
- Assessment & Testing: Audit current systems and customer-facing assets to find accessibility issues. Execute and iterate manual accessibility testing for all digital assets, both before and after remediation.
- Remediation Support: Assist with code review and remediation, helping developers and engineers quickly apply best-practice solutions for critical usability issues. Provide code-level and role-based recommendations.
- Documentation & Reporting: Collect and document testing data to allow for clear benchmarking, gap analysis, and risk assessment. Support performance scoring, compliance tracking, and analysis reports.
- Maintenance: Maintain test libraries, testing standards, tool configurations, data repositories, and reporting frameworks. Stay updated on the latest changes in WCAG, ADA, and Section 508 standards.
- Mentorship & Communication: Clearly communicate testing outcomes and technical issues to non-technical stakeholders. Mentor team members on accessibility standards and testing approaches to promote sustainability and skills transfer.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree (preferably in Computer Science, Software Engineering, IT, Web Development, or Human-Computer Interaction).
- 3+ years of hands-on digital accessibility testing experience, including assistive technologies, WCAG compliance, and manual testing methods.
- 2+ years of experience on a digital product team, working collaboratively to improve products and services using digital accessibility best practices.
- Strong proficiency in manual testing with assistive tech (e.g., NVDA, JAWS, Dragon, Fusion, Deque, Wave, ZoomText, VoiceOver, TalkBack) and built-in device features (speech-to-text, magnifiers, etc.).
- Strong proficiency in HTML, ARIA, and semantic markup knowledge, alongside a solid understanding of responsive web design principles.
- Demonstrated understanding of user-centered design (UCD) methodologies.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to manage diverse workloads, meet consistent project deadlines, and facilitate discussions around technical solutions.
Preferred Skills & Qualifications
- Experience with accessibility software and extensions such as Axe, WebAIM, SiteImprove, Sitebulb, WAVE, and ARC Toolkit.
- Experience testing complex systems that use standard technologies (HTML, CSS, JavaScript, SQL, jQuery).
- Experience in accessibility compliance for chatbots, digital forms, analog formats (Word, PowerPoint, print assets).
- Experience with Sitecore, Salesforce, Adobe XD, and Jira/Confluence.
- Relevant certifications are a strong plus: IAAP (CPACC, WAS, etc.), DHS Trusted Tester, Deque University, Section 508, or PMP.
Administrative & Security Requirements
- Must be able to work standard EST business hours (8:00 AM – 5:00 PM).
- Must provide your own hardware to access the client's virtual desktop environment.
- Due to the sensitive nature of the information accessible in this role, a comprehensive background check and a signed confidentiality agreement will be required upon selection.
